Had one for almost six yers and have been stuck with dialup for the last 2; hated it, but what are you going to do? Checked out the speed via several sites, averaged 2.2Mbs, with a high thoughput of 3.73Mbs and a low 0f .9Mbs. Gawd, I do so love this! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Slappie 9 #6 December 6, 2002 I HATE YOU!! I HATE YOUR CABLE MODEM!! I HATE EVERYONE WHO HAS BROADBAND CONNECTIONS AT HOME!! ok not really, I was only venting.. I've been dialup at the house for 2 years after having cable at my old house for 5 years. Sooooo sue me for venting alittle. I still can't get any broadband because: 1. The complex I boughy my condo in has a contract with TVMax an they offer Digital cable but no internet connection. {Old folks on the board wont switch to a cable company that offers it because TVMax is $5 cheaper a month per user} we do get "basic cable" for free. It's just included in the monthly maintenence fee. So it's techicnly not free. 2. SWB has promised DSL in the area for 2 years an has done nothing but postpone the actual install every two months since. I call SWB every 3 weeks and always get the same response: "Sir we are working on that area an it should be offered soon" bah! "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." The firm has taken me on as a client and now the work really begins. I just spent eight hours filling out surveys and background info for them. Guess it all came down to "What do I want to do when I grow up?", and I'm not any closer to answering that question than I was this morning! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.
