DYEVOUT 0 #1 December 6, 2002 I recently read a mention of the ratio of non-skydivers to people who have/do skydive (in another thread) Such a number would be interesting to see (1 in ???), but would be damn hard to compute - over 18, financially able, etc... Anyone ever seen someone take a shot at this ratio? ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
gus 1 #2 December 6, 2002 In the UK I believe there are around 4000 (?) 'actual' skydivers, from a population of 60 million. That equates to 1 in 15000 but like you said there are other factors to look at eg over 18. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
cloudseeker 0 #3 December 6, 2002 I have HEARD that only 1% of Americans have jumped before. I don't know if that is only adults that are qualified, but it's not much! When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will long to return.-Leonardo DiVinci
blueshrew 0 #4 December 6, 2002 I think 1% is a LOT. This means that around 2.5 to 3 Million people jumped?? We're talking 1 in 100. That can't be right, can it?

SpeedRacer 1 #10 December 7, 2002 Hmmm, 1% might not be far off, if you include the "once-fos" who do a tandem one time & never come back. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
lippy 918 #11 December 7, 2002 When I did my 100th, I was told 'Welcome to the 1% of the 1%'. Then I thought of it. Even if 1% of the population has jumped, I'm damb sure less than 1% of them has gotten to 100 jumps. Still, it sounds cool, and I say it to people who've just done their 100th.I got nuthin
