Kris 0 #2 December 9, 2002 Quoteany 1deas 0n h0w ! can f1x th1s ser104s1y b1ease If it's an expensive keyboard, take it apart and clean it. I pretty much take apart and hose down my MS natural keyboard one every few months. It's black so I'm not replacing it. Once you've got it apart, use canned air to blow all the dust away. Take the large rubbery piece that looks like a keyboard itself and let it dunk in some warm soapy water for 15 minutes along with the top part of the board that has the keys. Give it a swirl or two and then rise it off and dry it. That is the piece that makes contact on the circuit board to complete the circuit. If there's a lot of crud (or spilled cola) it won't work. Don't get the actual circuit board wet. If it's a cheap keyboard, go get another cheap one from Wal-Mart, Best Buy, or CompUSA. wildblue 7 #4 December 9, 2002 hahah! well... I don't think a dirty keyboard would sustitute numbers for letters like that... But, for dirty keyboards, just throw it in the dishwasher.... just let it dry completely before trying to use it again. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

In the upper right hand corner of your keyboard, you should have a key that says "NUM LOCK" -- Press it, and try typing. On many laptops, NUM LOCK turns J, K, L , ;, U I O P into a number pad for 10-key entry.... Try it...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! I tried to reinstall the keyboard driver with no luck and was trying to get onto Microsoft's site to troubleshoot. And yes, it is a laptop. I cannot belive I have owned this thing for a year now and never had that happen before. Thanks again!
