Plummet 0 #1 December 9, 2002 Can anybody give me a quick update on the situation with the hotels at Rantoul? There was some kind of hub-bub last year with prices and a conspiracy, etc. Has this been resolved? Also, recommendations on a nice, quiet, reasonable hotel? I'm not in it for the party, just need to rest up between days of jumping.-Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common. Kris 0 #2 December 9, 2002 The problem was with the third-party company that the WFFC used to book the hotels. That third-party (I can't remember their name) took a big lump of cash for themselves and the actual hotel discount wasn't the best. In fact, the prices were higher than what you could get by reserving at the hotel itself instead of using the third-party as an intermediary. I ended up staying at the Best Western for about $45 a night. I reserved the room directly on their website. It was very quiet and the room was nice. I think the price for that same room through the third-party company was like $60 a night. WFFC 1 #3 December 9, 2002 The main reason the WFFC uses a hotel consolidator is that it's a big headache to do it yourself. I've already been told that we won't be using this same organization again. bluez~~~ Michael----- ~~~Michael

freeflir29 0 #5 December 9, 2002 The hotels were also trying to charge people that just walked up to the desk the $60 some dollar price. A friend went in and they tried to charge him that rate until he raised hell. Then they gave him the proper $40 some price. My suggestion......make reservations before you go either through a travel site or the hotel directly. I think it will save some hassel.
Guest #6 December 9, 2002 After initially making a reservation with the third-party, I went online and tried it for myself. I got into the Best Western for about $40/night (also got corporate discount). WFFC has already stated that they won't be using that company again next year."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
