KawiZX900 0 #79 December 9, 2002 it is a stereo type, but the military is a different world. It parrallels in all lines of conversation. Most of which is not considered polite, and could possibly get you sued in the civilian sector. when you live and work with a group. There is a tight bond formed, and working relationships are just different. Conversation tends to be pretty base, todays polite society would'nt dig it. Yet we live it and it's what we know. When I step outside my door, I like to keep in mind where I am though. What fly's at work and usually has people laughing their ass off, from sexuality to race. Does not elict the same response on a civil platform. But when you work with people that there's a reasonable chance of dying with you tend to make each other laugh. again, when you're gone for a while, ie, not getting any, Homer's statement is the same fuckin thing as saying damn, I could use a cup of coffee right now. I don't even want to start with text within text. undertones and vernaculars, because it's deep, and not everyone can feel the undercurrent when they are on the surface just riding out the chop. I worked with a grenich village black gay guy, on a ship, and he was the funniest one amongst us, always talkin about wonder woman an shit, but he tolerated us when we talked about kobe tai. and there was no animosity between anyone. just throwing some xxx humor in an otherwise bleak long ass day of a warrior. Accelerate hard to get them looking, then slam on the fronts and rollright beside the car, hanging the back wheel at eye level for a few seconds. jfields 0 #85 December 9, 2002 Quoteit is a stereo type, but the military is a different world. Yes, it is. It is equally stereotyping of me to question whether the homophobia that runs rampant in the military is a function of the job, or a function of the lower than average educational/intellectual levels. It could also be the economic imbalances that tend to be present in enlistees. Exposure to broader ideas than within the close-knit and regulated military family can bring more open-mindedness about sexuality. It isn't about whether people in the military are gay or not, but whether they can stretch their brains to comprehend that people's right to sexual freedoms (including freedom from harassment) are things they have sworn to defend. The fact that soldiers (sailors, etc) take that oath means they are held to a higher standard, not a lower one. At least that is how I saw it when I was in the military. KawiZX900 0 #91 December 9, 2002 chew on this... We lose sight of it all, because it's plain to see. the army guy made a statement to a post that asked for a response, I laughed but this post began as a bridge over troubled water. where the first one seemed innocent enough to me, it elicited a big slam on him. at which point the thread deteriated into somthing about slamming ass, pretty graphic, at that point I know longer rallied towards the defense of the crest fallen. overstepped my bounds, ball out of play. but initally i saw no reason to rib a guy, fuck it i'm done here nevermind. jtval 0 #92 December 9, 2002 Justin, I see almost as must idiocy in the military as I do in the Civilian world...some are homophobic but its fun to fuck with those fools! they are usually the back woods hillbilly/redneck types. its a shame when I see that level of stupidity but you have to learn to fuck with those people unmercifully!I cant stand ignorant assholes! That's one crazy place...thinking back...to an outsider it probably looks like a whole squadron of gay guys. Someone was always giving "Fruit baskets" or tying someone up with tape and shaving various parts of their bodies. The funny story of one of the "kids" down stairs being on profile because he cut his nutsack open while shaving them. Uuummm....the stories go on....Those guys are ANYTHING but homophobic. Most of them were just plain crazy....I guess it came with the territory. I've been out 2 years today and I'm still in "adjustment." What memories though.... freeflir29 0 #97 December 9, 2002 QuoteIve never shaved anyone elses balls Apparently he was doing this himself and made an "error." I found out about it at the Commander's staff meeting. His poor boss had to explain why one of his guys was on profile since he had "conveniently" left off the reason on the power point slide. Of course all of us are laughing hysterically and the commander is just sitting there with a bewildered look on his face. You could almost see his thoughts..."WHY IN THE HELL WAS THIS KID SHAVING HIS NUTS????" That was a funny day. Too bad I didn't have it on video.
