skybytch 273 #1 December 12, 2002 So I left work last night and couldn't wait to get home so I could turn on my puter and play more of "that damned game" (the sims online). Stopped by the store on my way and got everything I'd need for the evening so I wouldn't have to go out again. Got home, played with the dogs, turned the puter on and settled in for what I had hoped would be a pleasant few hours of online game play. Thought I'd check in here first so I opened up IE... and got a server not found error. WTF? Glanced over at the DSL modem.... shit. The light that indicates a good connection was flashing - which means no service. Turns out I forgot to pay the phone bill and they shut both the phone and the DSL off yesterday afternoon. Spider solitaire was a poor replacement for my original plans. Oh well, bill will be paid this morning (good thing it's payday!), hopefully I'll be back up to hi-speed by the time I get home today. Vallerina 2 #2 December 12, 2002 That sucks, Lisa. I'm trying to set up my bill payments online to pay them automatically for me so that stuff can't happen. You forget one bill, and the next one really hurts. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

skybytch 273 #6 December 12, 2002 Lucky sims... they don't have bills. That's why mine has been able to amass a net worth of over 120k simoleans in only two weeks.

skybytch 273 #10 December 12, 2002 QuoteIs your sims turning tricks or something? LOL! No, I just play smart. Maxed out two skills before I did anything else so I get top payout on the "job objects", and I did a couple 8+ hour marathon sessions where I did nothing but make money and "green up" (take care of needs). skybytch 273 #11 December 13, 2002 Well that was an adventure. My voice phone line has been screwy for weeks but the DSL was still working so I didn't worry about it too much; just used the cell phone if I had to call anyone. Called the phone company and paid the bill; turns out neither the phone nor the DSL had been disconnected. Okay,... Got home and went to the box. Messed with the wires a bit, nothin'. Pulled some weeds from around the wires, nothin'. Finally called the kid and had him go to Home Depot for me - 50 feet of phone line plugged into the jack on the box and run through the kitchen window, a female/female adapter and voila! Back in business. Now if I can not trip over the wire running across the kitchen floor....

Rookeskydiver 0 #13 December 13, 2002 i'm actually playing sims for the first time as i speek, but this game is way to confusing for me. The Wife has missed her carpool 2 days in a row, and not only that, she started a fire in the kitchen. See, that's what you get for letting her wear shoes, leave the kitchen and stop hatching kids... Seeing as you were looking for a life, this might just be the thing for you. If a simulated life is good enough for you... It's a game about everyday life. Galen 0 #21 December 13, 2002 I forgot to pay a credit card bill one month. Could have sworn I had payed it. When the next invoice came I went back and checked my check book and sure enough I had payed every bill but that one. What really sucked is I only had a $30 balance on it and that missed payment affected my credit score (slightly) for several years. skybytch 273 #23 December 13, 2002 Quoteso where can I find it? You can find the "offline" Sims (and the various expansion packs) at pretty much any place that sells software. I've seen 'em at WalMart, Target, Staples... The one I'm playing now - The Sims Online - won't be available in stores until at least the 18th - but if you hurry up and click the link in the post at the top of this thread you can get in on the play test and get two free weeks of play time before you have to start paying the $10/month that the game will cost once it's "live." You can see a lot more about the online game here Warning! Can be VERY addictive... if you find yourself still up playing it at 4 am when you have to be to work by 9.... don't blame me... not that I'd know anything about that.... *nodding off to sleep at my desk*
