kallend 2,153 #1 December 15, 2002 LONDON, BRITAIN -- A cargo ship carrying nearly 2,900 luxury cars sank after colliding with another merchant vessel in the English Channel early Saturday. There were no injuries. The Norwegian-registered Tricolor was resting on the channel's bottom, but the low tide left it partly submerged, the French coast guard said. In heavy fog, the Tricolor collided with the Bahamas-registered container ship Kariba about 30 miles east of Ramsgate in southeastern England, said the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Wilhelmsen Lines, which owns the sunken 627-foot vessel, said the ship had been carrying 2,862 high-end BMWs, Volvos and Saabs as well as 77 other items from Belgium to Britain.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

nacmacfeegle 0 #7 December 16, 2002 Ooooops, this wreck is laying semi submerged in one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.... "The Norwegian owners had been under immense pressure to move the ship, which is lying just below the surface of the water in the middle of one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world." And somebody 'bumped into it' again! "The Nicola, a 3,000 tonne ship registered in the Dutch Antilles, hit the Norwegian Tricolor between 0200 and 0300 GMT on Monday. " Good job it wasn't carrying anything really nasty....., such as oil, radioactive waste, or Scud parts... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. (funny how other cars in the same price range, eg. Audis don't seem to attract the same low-life owners)
