I've never had a problem dealing with authority. Ignorance maybe, authority no.
Most individuals making their oath have no clue as to what it really means.
I'm not sniveling.. I don't remember sniveling..
I served my time and took every shot I was told to take. That wasn't an issue.
The thread started talking about the president taking a small pox vaccine. You decided to bring your testosterone into the thread "which is fine" and turn it into a dick-measuring contest.
The fact of the matter is you are insecure about things. I could easily post numerous url's saying exactly opposite of what the ones you posted say.
You said YOU did research.. I still haven't seen it?
Why?
Because you are talking out of your ass..
Yes.. When is comes with idiots I have a short attention span.. So to you I apologize. I thought I was responding to one of your posts here but I can't remember?? Short attention span and all..
It isn't a matter of believing "this", you have to consider the source and whom the source works for.
QuoteI expect there to be a rebutal "It's rebuttal" on your behalf
Do I detect some intelligence?? lol

Well, well what a spiffy come back, did it take you all day to think of that? You did nothing to answer any of the questions I posed or substantiate any of your statements....I expected as much. I will not be egged into your sophmoric game and poorly veiled stabs. I will however be bringing my "testosterone" and my dick to Eloy and if you wish to elaborate on those insecurities and any other topics related to this thread make your self known to me and I will say everything I have said here and more to your face. I expect you will be man enough to do so.

You don't. Reserves malfunction sometimes. If you don't want to take the 1 in 1000 risk that your reserve won't work, you can choose not to jump. If you don't want to take the 1 in 1000 risk that that smallpox vaccine will cause high level fever, encephalitis and/or tissue necrosis (or the 1 in a million chance it will kill you) and you're in the military, you don't get that choice.
That's life; when you sign up for military service you lose some rights, and the right to not take risks is one the things you lose. But comparing it to 'trusting your reserve' is silly.

Guys, you can't seriously be thinking about physically fighting each other over an Internet argument.

I merely suggested that we continue the conversation in person rather than continue here. I feel there will be more levity in a face to face discussion over a few beers.

Do you absolutely, unequivically KNOW that your reserve will work or do you bet on it's functioning as it's designed when it is needed? Statistics may show in favor of it doing just that but there are cases where they have not as well. The same can be said for any vaccine. If you do not like my analogy perhaps you have one that better fits the topic? Either way, the point being that there is always a degree of uncertainty, magin for error and or inherant risks.

No. I would advise anyone who wanted certainty to take up bowling, because there are no sure things in skydiving.
>The same can be said for any vaccine.
Agreed. For most adults, getting a vaccine that might injure or kill you is an option, one they can take or not take. For active military they may not have that choice.
>If you do not like my analogy perhaps you have one that better fits the topic?
OK - would you mind if your DZ _forced_ you to jump with just a reserve (no main) that a new rigger had repacked? If not, why not?

That's understood when you raised your right hand, at least it was for me.

There is a difference in choosing and being forced. If I showed up knowing that I could only jump a reserve and still opted to then I have made a choice on my own and realized the possibilities. Now if I showed up and Bubba held me down and strapped a reserve on me a threw me out of an A/C while I was fighting the whole way to altitude..that would be forced. If I was told to jump a reserve only or never return to the dz then I also have a choice. The first and the third example are both choices anyone who is in the Military either took or has the option of taking...in all regards.

I'm 100% in agreement with you! I had this conversation last night: if there is even a small risk of the vaccine turning on you and acting up, does the U.S. population really think the HH is going to take that risk? NEVER!

It's not one of the more dangerous things he's done.
Nothing can be made perfectly safe. Something new (or new again) tends to have its bad side examined closely. How many people here take aspirin? It thins your blood, exacerbates some stomach problems, can cause ringing in the ears, and can contribute to Reyes Syndrome in children. But because it's been around a long time, a lot of people take it (unless they're in a group which knows they shouldn't, and even then some do).

Agreed. It's something that should be understood.

Also agreed. In this case, 'never returning to the DZ' also means giving up your livelihood, so it's not as easy a choice as just leaving the DZ. I can understand why people would resent being made to make such a decision, even though they should have known what they were getting into.
