What can I say....thats a direct reflection of the marines for ya

Your lack of class is a prime example of you. Not the Army. I have enough intelligence to know that. :P;):D

I won't sit here and throw insults at military branches like you are doing. I know and respect people from all branches in this forum alone. I do know that it is the dickless wonder cowards that like to sling cross service crap against other branches of the military because deep down they know they are INFERIOR. We are all on the same team.

I think you are confusing the topic here...The Anthrax vaccination is not the sole causation of Gulf War illness. If it is show me the proof. As it was stated..Vets have been getting the Anthrax vaccine for years.

I didn't say it was the SOLE reason. I said it was linked. Again by people with PHD's that did legitimate research not by the OTHER PHD's "Plain Highschool Diploma" people like yourself.

Saccarine causes cancer and they sell it in little packages...your point is? last time I checked GWI was not a cancer.

Saccarine isn't injected in your veins. The Anthrax vaccine was MANDATORY and untested. It was forced on people that didn't know the risks just like yourself. No comparison. Your argument sounds like a child trying to get his way when he knows he is wrong.

Again.. I never said it was.. Next time read ALL the words..

In the Army we still call it like we see it and your post was not factual, hence you were talking out of your ass. If that offends you maybe you should become a civilian.

Nothing concerning the Anthrax studies is factual. The fact the you are a male might not be factual.. Your point is?? :P:o:ph34r:

OW, stop ,quit it... your killing me. Hey I have nothing against marines...I have several friends that are Marines. I guess you never got around to the ribbing that goes on between branches. You didn't happen to sit behind a desk when you were in did you? LOL;)

Again, show me hard data that can link the Anthrax shot to the Gulf war Illness. You CAN"T. Because they don't know. The list of suspected reasons is long and varied. Hell, bug juice is one of the suspect causation substances. Does that mean bug juice causes GWI? I think not. I may not have my Phd..yet. but from the sounds of it you've got your degree in BS.

There ya go again, talking out your ass. it wasn't forced on anyone. If you didn't want to take the shot you didn't have to. No one held people down and forced a needle into them. Opting to not take the shot had it's own set of consequences. (refer back to the part where you raised you right hand and repeated those words...remember that?). For your last sentence I think you've got it backwards..you sound like the child here.

I read all the words and in your diatribe it infers that the cause of GWI is the Anthrax vaccination. I suggest you go back and read YOUR words and if it still isn't apparent then perhaps a remedial course in English comprehension is needed.

Really? Then why are they still administering the vaccine and why do we not hear of all the thousands of active duty people who've received the vaccination falling ill? Is it a cover up maybe? Hey, you didn't happen to get out cause you were afraid to take the vaccination did you?

And to get this thread back on track...enter Wendy....

As some of the older military guys and I were talkin today, they brought up that as children, they were given the small pox and polio vaccines. No big deal. Chances of reaction are same as with any other vaccine, or even the change of being allergic to sulfa drugs.
Life is not fair and there are no guarantees...

Probally not. The average age of the readers here tends to be after small pox was eliminated from the general population.

Ok, maybe those in their late 30's and on may be a better way of putting it;)

Oh yes it was forced... That other set of consequences is called not having a choice. You either get the shot or we "uncle sam" will fuck up your career for the rest of your life.

Show me the data that disproves the link. You did the research.

Because they have to finish their tests. Literally. Sad but true. They would rather kill you slowly than let everyone die in an anthrax attack. Or a small pox attack. Think about it.

OK, I detect a problem dealing with authority here. Do you or do you not, remember raising your right hand and taking an oath? It's a simple yes or no answer.
You know that when you hear "DOOR" and consciously make a decision to jump out of that air plane you might end up maimed or dead when all is said and done. When you raised your right hand you verbally acknowledged what you were getting into and accepted the consequences like a man. You call it not having a choice, well you willingly accepted that you would not have a choice in certain matters so stop sniveling.

Since I know that you have a short attention span I tried to make this as precise as possible. However, you may have to do a little reading. I only hope you are able to comprehend it so I don't end up explaining it to you at a later date. There is a ton of examples I could post but I'll leave that to you in hopes that you will educate yourself and cease being a "SHIT HOUSE LAWYER"

http://www.swmed.edu/home_pages/epidemi/gws/gws.htm

...."Based on a theory of chemical interactions raised in early 1994 by toxicologist Dr. Tom Kurt of the UT Southwestern clinical faculty, researchers hypothesized that veterans' exposures to chemicals were much more strongly associated with the new syndromes than were other highly publicized risk factors.
The analysis strategy worked. Risk factors suggesting interactions between low-level chemical nerve agents, the pyridostigmine bromide (PB) anti-nerve-gas pills that many Gulf War veterans were given by the military, and chemicals in insect repellents and pet flea collars used by some soldiers to fight insects, were four to eight times more common in the veterans with the syndromes. But risk factors for exposure to oil-well smoke, multiple immunizations, depleted uranium munitions, burning jet fuel in tents, combat stress and other publicized concerns were only weakly -- or not at all -- associated. ...."

Again, speaking out of your 4th point of performance. Refer to the link and the excerpt.

http://www.anthrax.osd.mil/
March 6,2002

William Winkenwerder, Jr., MD, assistant secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, recognized the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine (IOM) report, “The Anthrax Vaccine, Is It Safe? Does It Work?”, released today, as the most extensive review ever conducted of the science underlying anthrax vaccine. He called the report “very good news for Service Members.”
“This peer-reviewed report represents the most comprehensive collection of scientific evidence for the safety and effectiveness of anthrax vaccine ever assembled in one volume,” said Winkenwerder. “It offers confirmation that the Department uses a protective measure that works for those at risk of exposure to the lethal agent anthrax.”
The comprehensive report examined the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, evaluated the manufacturing processes, and discussed the future needs of the anthrax vaccine. In conducting this review, the IOM invited oral and written testimony from concerned service members and others who have expressed reservations with the vaccine. They examined case reports all available epidemiologic studies and listened to investigators who had completed or have research underway. Releasing its report on March 6, 2002, the committee stated that anthrax vaccine is “an effective .."

Again, I don't expect that you will believe any of this but I would hope that you would attempt to educate yourself on the matter so that you would stop perpetuating falsehoods and misleading others. A few links to get you started.

I expect there to be a rebutal on your behalf but I will not continue this discussion on GWI. The topic was based around the Smallpox vaccine and that is what I will comment on from here forward.

I've never had a problem dealing with authority. Ignorance maybe, authority no.:)
Most individuals making their oath have no clue as to what it really means. :|

I'm not sniveling.. ;)I don't remember sniveling..;) I served my time and took every shot I was told to take. That wasn't an issue.

The thread started talking about the president taking a small pox vaccine. You decided to bring your testosterone into the thread "which is fine" and turn it into a dick-measuring contest.:D:o

The fact of the matter is you are insecure about things. I could easily post numerous url's saying exactly opposite of what the ones you posted say.:o

You said YOU did research..:S I still haven't seen it?B| Why?:o Because you are talking out of your ass..;)

Yes.. When is comes with idiots I have a short attention span.. So to you I apologize. I thought I was responding to one of your posts here but I can't remember?? :S Short attention span and all..

It isn't a matter of believing "this", you have to consider the source and whom the source works for.

I expect there to be a rebutal "It's rebuttal" on your behalf

Well, well what a spiffy come back, did it take you all day to think of that? You did nothing to answer any of the questions I posed or substantiate any of your statements....I expected as much. I will not be egged into your sophmoric game and poorly veiled stabs. I will however be bringing my "testosterone" and my dick to Eloy and if you wish to elaborate on those insecurities and any other topics related to this thread make your self known to me and I will say everything I have said here and more to your face. I expect you will be man enough to do so.;)

>How the hell will you know if that reserve is gonna work right when ya
> need it?

You don't. Reserves malfunction sometimes. If you don't want to take the 1 in 1000 risk that your reserve won't work, you can choose not to jump. If you don't want to take the 1 in 1000 risk that that smallpox vaccine will cause high level fever, encephalitis and/or tissue necrosis (or the 1 in a million chance it will kill you) and you're in the military, you don't get that choice.

That's life; when you sign up for military service you lose some rights, and the right to not take risks is one the things you lose. But comparing it to 'trusting your reserve' is silly.

Do you absolutely, unequivically KNOW that your reserve will work or do you bet on it's functioning as it's designed when it is needed? Statistics may show in favor of it doing just that but there are cases where they have not as well. The same can be said for any vaccine. If you do not like my analogy perhaps you have one that better fits the topic? Either way, the point being that there is always a degree of uncertainty, magin for error and or inherant risks.

No. I would advise anyone who wanted certainty to take up bowling, because there are no sure things in skydiving.

>The same can be said for any vaccine.

Agreed. For most adults, getting a vaccine that might injure or kill you is an option, one they can take or not take. For active military they may not have that choice.

>If you do not like my analogy perhaps you have one that better fits the topic?

OK - would you mind if your DZ _forced_ you to jump with just a reserve (no main) that a new rigger had repacked? If not, why not?

There is a difference in choosing and being forced. If I showed up knowing that I could only jump a reserve and still opted to then I have made a choice on my own and realized the possibilities. Now if I showed up and Bubba held me down and strapped a reserve on me a threw me out of an A/C while I was fighting the whole way to altitude..that would be forced. If I was told to jump a reserve only or never return to the dz then I also have a choice. The first and the third example are both choices anyone who is in the Military either took or has the option of taking...in all regards.

I'm 100% in agreement with you! I had this conversation last night: if there is even a small risk of the vaccine turning on you and acting up, does the U.S. population really think the HH is going to take that risk? NEVER!

Given GWB's age, he's almost certainly already been vaccinated in the past. Which means his chance of having a bad reaction is a lot lower than it was in the first place.

It's not one of the more dangerous things he's done.

Nothing can be made perfectly safe. Something new (or new again) tends to have its bad side examined closely. How many people here take aspirin? It thins your blood, exacerbates some stomach problems, can cause ringing in the ears, and can contribute to Reyes Syndrome in children. But because it's been around a long time, a lot of people take it (unless they're in a group which knows they shouldn't, and even then some do).

Wendy W.
There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Also agreed. In this case, 'never returning to the DZ' also means giving up your livelihood, so it's not as easy a choice as just leaving the DZ. I can understand why people would resent being made to make such a decision, even though they should have known what they were getting into.
