Whats with this crap on TV

Recommended Posts

I am watching tv as usual and i notice that who edited together the footage for this show put it in backwards. I have noticed this alot with slow panning shots. Anybody know why they are doing that? Its really annoying when you can instantly tell "Hey fire doesn't move like that"

Moi?! :) I was simply trying to convey that I didn't fully understand. :) I would never mindlessly posting information on the Internet. :):S:D;)

I think one of the biggest editorial/directorial bloopers was from the movie SPEED, when the cop that Keanu shot in the right leg, ends up with a wonded left leg when he gets his award... :S
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Right... but in a music video it's cool... like that breakbeat dancing they shoot and play on TV backwards (a la Mitsubishi/GAP commercials).

It's usually a (weak) attempt by a Producer to cover for some other issue he's trying to avoid -- like maybe he didn't get a left to right pan, but he really, really needs one for the continuity to make sense, so he figures that -nobody- will really notice of he runs a right to left pan backwards (or maybe a zoom in backwards to make a zoom out or maybe flips the scene left to right).

I personally can't stand that kind of shoddy craftsmanship, but the reality is that sometimes ya gotta do it for budget reasons.

Sometimes, like in the movie Titanic, ya actually plan for it to happen, so ya make a bunch of signs that read backwards so you only have to build half the set, put in the backwards signs, flip the image right to left and "viola" you've got the other half of the ship.

I have one better....for a great deal of what I do at work we record live to tape and rewind it when we do the broadcast........one day the studio cut to us without warning while I was cueing a tape......we had to do an entire traffic report with all the cars going backwards!!

I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter
