misskriss 0 #1 December 24, 2002 so I'm reading over the various posts i've written... makes me think....I am a totally different person here at dz.com than in person.. except the sex part..that's always real.. but on a day to day basis...it's the mom thing..the wife thing...cooking and cleaning..driving kids to various activities..attending Naval social functions with my husband and "behaving like a lady...." believe it or not.. so.....I'm trying to figure it out...is it possible to be all encompassing.... reading bedtime stories and singing lullabies one night.....discussing poetry with a bookclub the next....getting drunk and being free another night..... are these all me or am I a chameleon blending in with whatever group I 'm with... hmmmmmm.......do you define yourselves by the roles you play.....or do the roles you play define you.. nubain1 0 #2 December 24, 2002 I think it's a little bit of both that define who you are as a whole.
skygal3 0 #3 December 24, 2002 IMO... you define yourself by who you are. You are a mom; you are a wife; but you are also...you. You give a piece of yourself to your husband, your kids, etc...but you are still entitled to your own little piece for yourself...it is easy to see a different piece of yourself through past emails or posts because the internet, I believe, gives you the option of unabashedly being yourself...you don't have the normal insecurities of everyday face to face life. Also, it is easy to divulge more of the depths of your personality...ever think something and blurt it out faster than you can hear yourself say it and totally be shocked? By typing, you are transfering deeper thoughts. I think. Anyway, we get caught up in our "roles", but nothing deifnes you more than who you are at the core. Not what you do...IMO
f1freak 0 #4 December 24, 2002 That is a very good question, I know for my self, i am a totally different person while at work and when i'm not... hummmmmmmmm..... This really can get a person thinking....HAVE FUN... ...JUST DONT DIE

lippy 918 #8 December 24, 2002 How I see myself definitely depends on my surroundings. At work I'm a different person than when I'm at home, or the DZ, or out with friends. But no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing, I'm always first and formost a skydiver...which really annoys a lot of my co-workersEdit: since originally posting I learned how to spell I got nuthin
