narcimund 0 #27 December 23, 2002 QuoteRobert Heinlein. One of my favorite authors when I was young. Oh god. Of course it was Heinlein. I hope he knew before he died how deeply he'd influenced millions of people's politics. Not enough to save America, unfortunately, but I think he knew it was hopeless. Snowflake 0 #30 December 23, 2002 .02 Well since Austin isn't a choice. I'd say the optimal place for you to live would be Denton especially if your still in your twenties. From Denton it's less then an hour to Skydive Texas about an hour to SDD an hour to either Ft Worth or Dallas. You have UNT and TWU and all the senseless fun that goes with 2 schools in a small town. Of course if your shop is on the south side of town then all that becomes moot unless you want to commute thru downtown Ft Worth every day. I actually thought about moving there but moved to Austin instead.
cloudseeker2001 0 #31 December 23, 2002 dallas and ft worth sucks. too much traffic, too many crapy people, high crime rates, high cost of living and too many stupid good looking blondes! though the skydiving is good in north texas, those 2 cities are armpits. they are the only 2 places worse than houston. why not arizona, utah, cali, colorado or navada? miked10270 0 #37 December 24, 2002 Hi Cloudseeker, Your post has confused me... "Too many stupid good lookin blondes". OK, I accept that blondes have a deserved reputation - I was blonde once, but I turned 5, went to school and learned to read - it was about then that my hair went dark. Then of course there was the hair dye company who marketed their black hair dye as (and I'm not making this up) "Artificial Intelligence". I just don't see how you can have "too many" of these creatures - perhaps not "Miss Right" but hopefully "Miss RIGHT NOW"!!AS for the cost of living in Texas, while I accept that mobile homes are fairly cheap, what about the cost of the 10mm Glock ($1,000), the M-16A2 with the M203 grenade launcher for squirrel hunting, the General Electric 7.62mm mini-gun for "home defence", and of course the quad M-2 Brownings for rabbit shooting. Then there's the food for the 5 "houn'-dawgs", a second trailer to keep all this stuff in, the 3 broken down pickup trucks (surely required garden ornaments in any texas front lawn)..... Plus, of course, if you are really going to immerse yourself in the whole "Texas culture", do you have an exceptionally close relative who is willing to bear your children? Mike. LouDiamond 1 #39 December 24, 2002 Quote AS for the cost of living in Texas, while I accept that mobile homes are fairly cheap, what about the cost of the 10mm Glock ($1,000) If you paid a G for a 10mm you got Gringo'd, they saw you coming boy No rightful Texan would fall for that one. Quote the M-16A2 with the M203 grenade launcher for squirrel hunting, the General Electric 7.62mm mini-gun for "home defence", and of course the quad M-2 Brownings for rabbit shooting. First off, Texan's only buy those particular types of weapons to piss off limp wristed, slack jaw Liberals. If you ever saw a Texas white tail deer you'd know why you'd need 5.56mm weapon, the M203 is for expediant ditching on the back 40. The 7.62mm mini gun is for(perimeter) home defense, you gotta stop them way out on the perimeter and tracer burn out really sucks. This is also where the M203 serves as a dual purpose weapon, you always have to cover your dead space and nothing says "GIT" like a nice hollow "plunk" of a M203 Now the twin 50's, those are for reaching out and stopping those big 'Ol trucks that just happen to wander on the property some times or just for some plain 'Ol fun when nothings happening. Nothing like plinking cans at 2 miles Quote Then there's the food for the 5 "houn'-dawgs", a second trailer to keep all this stuff in, the 3 broken down pickup trucks (surely required garden ornaments in any texas front lawn)..... The dogs are part of the inner perimeter defence, any piece of equipment requires maintenance of some kind. The second trailer serves ass the C2 node, you have to have a Command and Control center in any crisis sit-she-a- shun. The 3 broken down pick up trucks serve as combination of range marker, obstacle and observation post and help define the perimeter. What's a matter wit ya'all...don't you City folks now nuthin?
