skycop 0 #1 December 24, 2002 I just bought a Saturn VUE (small SUV). I researched the purchase pretty extensively. Does anyone here own one or any other Saturn models? Do you like it? Any problems, etc. So far I'm happy with ours. Thanks, Skycop "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
Skyrose7 0 #2 December 24, 2002 I DO! I love my saturn. I bought it very used. 80,000. It now has 140,000 and I have had very few problems with it. I wonder how long it will last! Plus, I drive it all over.. DZ (2 hours there and back) three times/wk in summer. It does dandy.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. LouDiamond 1 #3 December 24, 2002 I own a Saturn LW2 and a SW2 prior to that. Both of them fantastic vehicles and the service is superb. I recently took mine in for the scheduled maintenance and mentioned a strange shake i had begun to notice. When I called to inquire about it being done they informed me that they had replaced the steering spring and gave me 4 brand new tires free of charge and changed my oil. Didn't cost me a dime for the whole visit. I have nothing but good things to say about Saturn. Enjoy your vehicle."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
skycop 0 #4 December 24, 2002 Cool, thanks. I plan to drive to the DZ (1 hour) plenty this summer! I can take those miles a little easier! "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
jkm2500 0 #5 December 24, 2002 I have an SL2 that I purchased new back in 01. It is a great car, so far the only problem I've had with it is that someone clipped it in the parking lot. But thanks to those plastic side panels, i only had to use some rubbing compound to get the mark off, as opposed to getting body work done. On a side note, I used to work at a saturn dealership (thus one of the reasons for a saturn). I saw several people who brought pictues of accidents that they walked away from. They were back to buy new saturns. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
Gawain 0 #6 December 24, 2002 Edit: I'm still looking for the issue, but C&Ds opinion of the Vue was mostly positive, and was a good execution of an smaller SUV. Second Edit...I realized I was talking about the wrong Saturn...sorry... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! quade 4 #8 December 24, 2002 I own a 1995 Saturn SC-2. I ordered the car and it was -specifically- built for me. 107,000 miles and except for a couple of parking lot and road hazard induced blemishes is for all purposes as good as new. It was extremely well designed and built. The Saturn company (from my perspective) reached its peak somewhere around 1995-96. After that, the upper management team changed and as a result, so did the company. Gone are the days of free lemonaid, pop corn and donuts in the waiting area and gone are the days of a rose left on the seat by the service technicians. --YES, it really used to happen.-- At one point in time there was a U.S. car company out there that tried really hard and really did impress me with its' sincere appreciation of it's customers. Recently, it replaced the SC line with the ION line. Perhaps to some the ION is an advancement, but to me it's simply hideous. It is by no means a replacement for my car. I've written the Saturn company and told them I will not be returning to buy another car from them unless they can return to the company they once were and offer the type of car they used to.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Gawain 0 #9 December 24, 2002 I know a few Saturn owners...a loyal lot is an understatement. GM has increased its influence over the company in its partnership with Toyota. If they aren't careful, Toyota will step aside and you'll have the next generation of plastic Chevettes coming out of Spring Hill, TN........ Geez...I'm batting 1000 today...I'm wrong about the Toyota piece... I'm going back to bed...... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! FreeFlyHol 0 #10 December 24, 2002 I currently drive a SL2. Not too many problems with it beyond general wear and tear. Some Saturn owners are pretty hard core. I mean I like it...but I don't go to the picnics or anything. I've had quite a few people see my car and ask me if I just totally love it. Just yesterday I had parked right in front of the yoga studio, someone inside saw me get out and was looking at my car all starry eyed. He made the comment of how he missed his Saturn and said something to the affect of "it's such a classic body style". My mom still talks about how much she wishes she had her Saturn instead of her 4 Runner. She's actually thinking of buying a VUE herself. The people at the dealership are really nice, for sure. If you get your oil changed there their they wash it for you and give you a carnation. I'd say Saturn is an overall good company. Unlike most cars, I don't personally know of anyone that has regretted their purchase of a Saturn. Good luck with your new car! x's and o's, Hol :0When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?
happythoughts 0 #11 December 24, 2002 Quote I saw several people who brought pictues of accidents that they walked away from. They were back to buy new saturns. While my son was trying to earn the title of Supreme Car-Driving Idiot, he rolled my last Saturn. Walked away with a little soreness. It had 160K miles on it at the time. I bought another, a used '99.
skycop 0 #12 December 24, 2002 Well I'd like to say it was a gift for me BUT, the wife drives the nice new car. I did some online research and all articles and reviews were positive. Price wise it was several thousand dollars cheaper than it's competitors. My only concern was the 2.2liter 4 banger for such a large vehicle but, it only weighs 200lbs more than the L-series. We didn't buy it for performance, just all around room and features. (I'm a pretty boring family guy, at least it's not a mini-van!) "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" Scoby 0 #13 December 24, 2002 Just a weird note regarding Saturns. A guy in a parking lot had locked his keys into his Saturn. He asked if he could try my key (to a Maxima). I thought he was nuts, but sure enough, it opened the door. Flash forward to a few weeks ago. My roommate locked himself out of his Saturn. I tried my Ford Focus key and it opened it. Bizarre. GrumpySmurf 0 #15 December 24, 2002 A cousin of mine (along with his wife) owe thier lives to the construction quality of the Saturn line. They got a a nasty wreck on the TCH in Nfld about 5 years ago. Both the parameds and police who responded to it were amazed at how well the car did in protecting its occupants, and hazarded a guess that had it been any other vehicle at that that time, they would have been dead. skycop 0 #16 December 25, 2002 Thanks to all for the great info, i feel a little better about my purchase. One side note, our cat got into a big old fight last night outside and was wounded pretty good. We had to take him to the vet today in the new VUE. Well, he didn't like his little cardboard carrier very much, and you guessed it, he pissed all over the inside of our new freakin' car!!! I can say Saturn interiors clean up pretty easily. Ah yes, i love that new car AND CAT PISS smell............ "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
riddler 0 #17 December 25, 2002 Saturn is a great company - I helped my mom buy two of them, and the company treats you well and the cars may have minor issues, but overall are great cars.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
