minor S/L training!

Recommended Posts

Had a very interesting story told to me by an older patient of mine today. She's 56 years old now, but at age 16 she was involved in the Cadet Program through the Civil Air Patrol. She was stationed at Norton AFB here in CA.

Anyway, as her story went, her cadet program offered s/l training to the group. Age 13 on up. Her mom didn't want her to jump, so denied to sign the papers!

Well, this 16 year old wanted to, and when one of the other cadet's chickened out, she 'borrowed' her permission slip and went jumping anyway! (without sitting through the FJC at all!!)

Obviously she survived, and remembers the glorious view under canopy...plus getting drug through the briers and weeds upon landing. She'd jump today if she could!

After listening to her very vibrant tale, I was wondering what other stories were out there from those days. Where people could just walk on, get onboard, jump, and live to tell the story! :^) I've heard just one other like this one a few years back. And he's still jumping today (legally this time).

Are there any other bandits out there?
