Wanted: suggestions for good party..

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am having a house party for New Years and looking for suggestions. Will be mixture of skydivers & wuffos. What has made parties memorable that you have been to-- or had???

Re: have excellent variety of tunes, movies, booze & appetizers...

Lots of beer and sloppy joes. Sloppy joes are the key. Trust me.

:D I was going to suggest lots of beer and bean-chili...and pray for a sunny day at the DZ and a working door on the plane the next day... ;)
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

I've always liked parties with a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, personality types, and opinions. It's the people that make it, not heavy drinking or sexualized games or hijinks.

Our christmas party spanned ages from 16 to 64, included photographers specializing in third world faces and architecture, the chair of the political science department at an ivy league college, a grade school teacher, a self-employed genius integrated chip designer and his M.D. wife, an unemployed unix guru wanna-be, a dozen other strange types, and of course two homo web designer entrepeneurs.

Whoah!, Forget the sloppy joes! Last year I went to a small Christmas get-together hosted by a couple of gay guys and let me tell you - gay dudes can COOK!!! I had quayle (sp??) and a bunch of other thing that I don't remember what they were called but they were good! Probably the fanciest meal I'll ever eat in my lifetime.

Dammitt...you beat me to it. Had me almost falling out of my chair laughing anyway!! :D

Clay's tips for great parties:
1. Cool people
2. Lots of booze
3. Opportunities for guests to get as crazy as they like....or not....but have the naked twister, strippers, body paint, etc. standing by just in case the party goes that direction.
4. Sloppy joes.....and nachos....:D
5. Make sure NO ONE drives home drunk!!!! Not ONE!!!
