well ... am in the middle of Innocents Abroad right now (Twain). I'm partial to the suspense/mystery things lately .. Clancy, Follett, Grisham, LeCarre are all good in that vein. If you've never read Lonesome Dove .. is a good semi historical western sorta thing.

As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks?

Just finished that one myself. (Good Omens) I bought a whole collection of Terry Pratchett books to read through.. Good Omens was the first I picked up funny as hell another good recomendation.

I was given a book when I was pretty young that I picked up and read again a little while back,just wondering if anyone else read it when they were a kid.Its called"The Phantom Tollbooth"
The last actual book I read was The short stories book by Norman Maclean with "A River Runs Through It"

That's an excellent book! I love all the wordplay in it. Never read it as a kid, though. About a year ago, I met the guy who did the illustrations -- Jules Feiffer, who wrote and illustrated a pretty good book himself called A Barrel of Laughs, A Vale of Tears. Very similar in style.

That's an excellent book! I love all the wordplay in it. Never read it as a kid, though.

I have ALL the Orson Scott Card books (The Hegemon books) and I have Cryptomicon (in HARDBACK) no less. Remind me and I'll tricklet them in to you. I need these back though because I'm not done reading them all. Moving into a new house has severely crimped my reading schedule.

Also, recommendation for all of you.

Hands down the BEST aviation book ever written. Run, don't walk, to find it. It's currently out of print and I've had a heck of a time tracking down copies of it to give/loan to people.

Ender Wiggen's a pretty cool dude huh? liked the asian girl who passed all the tribulations, where the other children killed themselves by jumpiig off rocks , bashing their heads into them repeatedly etc, the kid who followed the line.

Just finished 'Lamb' by Christopher Moore. It could have been titled 'The Life and Times of a Young Jesus Christ - (as told by his best bud Biff). Good book, funny enough to make me laugh out loud.

This is a quality Stephenson novel. Not quite as good as Snow Crash, but better than Diamond Age and Zodiac. His publisher has also recently resurrected his long out of print first novel, The Big U. I need to get my hands on that.

The last I had heard about Quicksilver was that it would be released in Q1 2003. Unfortunately, I just checked and it looks like it will be released in three parts (this is not unfortunate), and the first part will be released in July 2003 at the earliest (this is unfortunate). QS will be sort of a prequel to Cryptonomicon. The paperback Cryptonomicon has a short excerpt from QS which reveals...[snip]. I'm not gonna blow the secret. PM me after you've read the book and the excerpt if you can't figure it out yourself
