Jessica 0 #1 December 30, 2002 Is having ice-skating rinks in malls normal? Half the malls in Dallas have them. I was informed last night that not only was this strange and weird, it was also a very 80s thing to do. I guess the fact that I took lessons in the Galleria makes me uncool. misskriss 0 #2 December 30, 2002 .....i remember when I lived in San Diego there was an ice rink at the mall...... the kids loved it..
freeflir29 0 #3 December 30, 2002 I don't think I have ever seen an ice rink in a mall. Now..last time I was in Columbus, OH they had built a nice BMX track inside the mall. Temporarily of course...
skip 0 #4 December 30, 2002 I do not know what is normal but we also have a rink in our galeria here in houston. I did notice that Ice Skating is verry verry popular in Dalas. .:skip
bobsled92 0 #5 December 30, 2002 Well, going up where Winter was THE season and summer was time to get ready for NEXT Winter, we had places to skate if it was left alone for 30 minsWe watered down one of our fields to smooth out the area(wetland area) and the only thing to worry about was an occasional branch. As far as MALLS, my sister used to do compete and do expos at malls all over the U.S. They are very common. _______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Michele 1 #10 December 30, 2002 Nope, not weird and not '80's. I started skating young, and competed for a while. My home rink was in a mall which was destroyed in the 94 quake (I had stopped skating by then). It's really a good idea, inasmuch as it gives the kids/youths something to do while Mom spends time and money in the shopping center. kingbunky 3 #13 December 30, 2002 the west edmonton mall has one, and the oilers practice there occasionally... of course, they also have an amusement park, a mini-golf course (modeled after pebble beach i believe), a water park with wave pool, a trained dophin show, as well as canada's largest fleet of operational submarines."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." FLsurfer 0 #14 December 30, 2002 I grew up in Mission Beach but I remember goin' to that rink while in Jr High in the early 80's. We used to think we were so cool when they'd let us stay after closing on Fri nights to have races and play hockey. Problems just be opportunities in der workin' clothes. Gawain 0 #19 December 30, 2002 Quote the west edmonton mall has one, This also begs the question, why does Canada need an indoor skating rink? j/k...it helps if you can actually feel your extemities in the winter time while having fun...
