gemini 0 #11 December 31, 2002 Quotethe same week of Summerfest at Skydive Chicago It's a shame the powers that be at SDC and WFFC can't grow up and schedule these two events on different dates. Some of us would like to go to both and stay for the entire event. With attendance down the last couple of years you would think money would win out over ego! freeflir29 0 #13 January 1, 2003 I went cheap(was low on cash at the moment).....only made 10 jumps and spent a total of about $500 including gas for the 9 hour drive. OTOH...I have a friend that made 60 jumps.....that's over $1000 right there just for jump tkts......but hey...the beer is free....

I can't wait, hell I have already been waiting for the past 4 1/2 months!Anyhow, check this post to see how much some spent (I forgot how much I spent which I guess is a good thing) http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=193985
PhreeZone 20 #19 January 1, 2003 I've already got $500 saved for WFFC 2003. I'm hoping to have $1500 saved and spend every dime of it. A couple more Ballon and chopper jumps, a lot more regular jumps, possibly stuff like that. WFFC 1 #20 January 1, 2003 Keep in mind that the WFFC has always started the first Friday in August, an established timeframe. Summerfest came along a couple years ago and overlapped the dates. I've heard good things and lame things from summerfest. I personally doubt I'll go check it out unless Roger wants to match what I pay for jump tix in Rantoul. eeneR 3 #21 January 1, 2003 Ah yes...but who knows who started WFFC? I do agree that it would be more productive to work out some sort of arrangement. You can look at it this way, WFFC is for people who want to party hardcore and Jump. Summerfest is more Jump and have a good time meeting people and slaming a few beers on the double decks... PhreeZone 20 #22 January 1, 2003 I found it to be more the other way in my experiences at WFFC/Summerfest. WFFC is all about jumping 15 times a day and then tossing a few back at the end of the day where as Summerfest wraped down early evening and people started parting by 7 with a later sunset. Summerfest had enough planes for the size crowd there, WFFC almost had too many planes (like thats a bad thing ) There seem to be niches at each one. Summerfest seemed to be more of a locals party that had others there jumping and WFFC was more of an organized tent cliche going on. Too badthey can't be differnt weeks...I'd like to hit both.
