QuickDraw 0 #1 January 2, 2003 Ok, here go's.... i got back from Ampuria Brava tonight with a head full of good memories, and more first's than you can shake a stick at. I won't bore you with too much detail, but first skyvan, first porter, first solo, first two & three way, first (and only) landing in the peas (christmas day) first reserve ride (boxing day) 46 jumps and a met some great people along the way. I started on my level 3 AFF and sucked, i did a repeat and passed every level after that (somehow) what really made me feel like a skydiver though was the consolidation jumps, man they felt good, even though i was burning holes in the sky i was wearing that shit-eating grin for a day or two. While i was doing the consoles i started the skydive university (WARP or FS1) and quickly started to burn holes in my pocket as well as the sky, i did about 26 jumps in total and did not attempt my Cat 10 as i am still having a few problems in some areas (mainly all of them) and at £50 a shot the budget would not stretch any further. The reserve ride was on my 50th jump it was a 3-way with two great guys i met, i funneled the exit as planned and held on too long (about 5000ft) whilst all this went on my cutaway pad was ripped out and was spotted by both guys, who by this time i had let go of, and was re-docking with until i realized it was break off (5000ft) as i turned to track i saw one of the guys give me a VERY clear pull signal, i did a short track and dumped, and thats when i first noticed something wrong....wtf ? why were my brakes in front of my eyes ? why were they red ? wtf ? whats that white canopy doing there ? i looked behind me to see my main drifting away, i then did a canopy check and set about getting home stood the landing and bought a crate of beer on the night. Man, i am gonna miss that place, thanks to everyone who took the time to talk to me and all the staff at CPCB and special thanks to my instructor Juan Sanchez who is an awsome skydiver. And thanks for all the advice and encouragement and messages of support off of you guys, and for my nomination from HappyThoughts (hehe) Wishing all of you and yours a great new year.
