why is it you try to go through life being honest and it gets you no where and considered nothing but naive?? why does one have to play games and be dishonest in order to get anywhere?? what ever happened to being honest and having the truth prevail?? seems to me like all the truth gets you anymore is screwed.

But, do you really want to go in the direction in life that the dishonest people are going? It's always better to take the high road, hun. You might not be able to see the payoffs right away, but they'll come to you someday. :)

Excellent point, seedy. When you have integrity, it's so much easier to live with yourself in the morning. Plus, I find integrity to be quite sexy!

because there are a bunch of butt heads out there. IN the end truth wins, it always does, it's getting there that can be bumpy. Someone isn't honest with me, and it's hasta lavista I'm through with them. Sometimes it may seem that you have to resort to their level, but then remember in the end one has to look at oneself in the mirror and decide if they actually like who they are..... I couldn't be a lying cheat and do that.

"illigitimi non carborundum":S "Don't let the bastards wear you down"..;)
I think it might have been Mark Twain who wrote..........
" An honest person has FAR less to have to remember"B|,,,, or somethin' like that hahaha.;)
Of course,, "I have been wrong before,, I'll probably be wrong again"....

Honesty is the one thing in life over which people truly have control. Think of all the things with which honesty helps you:
1) You never get caught in a lie
2) You never have to say something more than once to let people know that you are serious
3) Rarely do you have to explain yourself
4) You do not have to keep track of the untruths, and your recall is kept intact.

The honest person is NOT naive. The honest person has a better idea of what is truly going on than anyone else. The lier lies to him/herself, as well.

Point being - maintain your integrity. If you get screwed over because you are honest, take happiness in the fact that you made the correct choice of honesty/pain over dishonesty/pleasure, which comes back to haunt you.

And a lot of the payoffs are internal. I think integrity is important.

Randy the helpful Pineaplle says,"He's right and that's the gist" Really, it all depends on you, I go the honesty route just because I, not you, my SO, or anyone else, have to look in to my eyes every morning, mirrors are muthafukha's. Ben Franklin said it best, "The man who never lies, never has to remember anything";)

Fyodor Dostoevsky explored this when he wrote The Idiot, which shows the inability of a truly innocent man to live in 'modern' society.

"The story is basically about the sudden appearance of a near perfect man (or Dostoyevsky's idea of one) and the effect he has on a small group of middle class characters. They ask for his judgement and support in various mucky disputes and dilemmas, try to rob him of his inheritance, pick fights with him, fall in love with him, present him to each other as a prophet, a freak, a status symbol etc. Between them they land him in a psychiatric clinic, which, incidentally, is where he originally appears from."

It is an intense and sorrowful exploration of the human condition.

There is no better drug than Honesty , it is healing, it is liberating, and nobody can can give you sh*t for saying what is true, it is true there are situations in which you can either achieve or "get ahead" by not telling the "truth" / lying, but do you really want that, a person with integrity, not willing to compromise his/or her's Ideals would not want to "get ahead " by either lying or not telling the complete truth. there is a price to pay, are your values worth it ???? just my humble opinion...

don't foget about the people that only want to hear what makes them happy and get pissy when the truth that they "ask" for isn't what they wanted to hear, these folks have been my bane for 3 years now
