quade 4 #1 January 2, 2003 Ok, anyone that's ever been within earshot of me after I've seen a movie generally says I'm way too critical and that I just don't like anything I see -- that's SO untrue. Yesterday I saw CHICAGO and all I can say is it's fantastic. Go.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

AggieDave 6 #5 January 3, 2003 Well, I'm one of the people who freak'n love that movie. I definately recommend it, its a cheap rental at Blockbuster, or even a cheap DVD buy (like $9 or something along those lines).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." indyz 1 #6 January 3, 2003 Sorry to drag this thread more off topic, but... I have a friend who is convinced that Boondock Saints was banned in the US because it was offensive to Catholics (as in censored, suppressed by the government). He was on the edge of turning a fun argument into a shouting match when I walked away from the argument a week ago. Does anyone have any source that mentions this? I can't find one single source that supports his position, or even mentions it in passing. The only thing I can find is a mention of a "censored" version in Oz and Canada to avoid the equivalent of the American NC-17 rating (the human shield in the elevator and the lamp through the head were removed, apparently). quatorze 1 #7 January 3, 2003 as far as I know, the Saints still sit on almost all of the video stores that I have been to recently I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
indyz 1 #8 January 3, 2003 Right, I wasn't clear about that. He maintains that it was banned in the past, but the ban has since been lifted. Did I mention that my friend doesn't really understand logic? Like if the government had unconsitutionally banned a film and nobody complained, why would they lift the ban all of the sudden? AggieDave 6 #10 January 3, 2003 Is this his reasoning for it only playing in something like 6 theaters around the country when it first came out? That was due to a severly low budget and a then no name writer. As you suspected, your friend is wrong. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
