FallinWoman 1 #26 January 3, 2003 One of the things that Skymedic and I did to avoid the craziness of traffic in the main landing area was to land over by the spectator area. The locals loved seeing us land, always wanted to talk to us and have us autograph something, and the area was much less crowded than the main landing area.... Just a thought! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! Guest #27 January 3, 2003 Quote If you're a low time jumper or this is your first time at the WFFC, DEFINITELY head to tent 3 for at least a day. Bill, DJan, Mary, Windsor, etc. will make sure to introduce you to the convention the right way. My major personal rule is know when to say when and have a seat if the winds get squirrely or what not. Be safe where ever you end up. Bluez~~~ Michael I'm with you, Mike. BillVon, Winsor, Amy, DJan, et al are an outstanding bunch of organizers and are pretty good at keeping an eye on low-timers. Most of my time at the WFFC has been in their area, because despite 300+ jumps, some big-way experience, etc., I like the laid-back small-way organizing that they do. They're there because they want to be and because they enjoy it. It's also a warm fuzzy to be the beneficiary of the 100+ years of collective skydiving experience they provide, gratis. It doesn't get any better. Now, about that nasty beer the WFFC serves... "The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Don't you just love that immense field by the spectator area? I mean, almost nobody landed there, at least partly because the main landing area was truly huge by itself. I think Rantoul is a much safer place for low-timers than Quincy was."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
rhino 0 #29 January 3, 2003 QuoteBalloon jumps are kind of scary because there's no telling where you'll land. On mine, I ended up smack in the middle of a bean field, and the other jumper on the load in a back yard. Just be sure to spot it carefully. I landed on the driving range at the golf course.. Snowwhite 0 #30 January 3, 2003 Gosh, and when I got complaints that skydivers were landing on the golf course, I was SHOCKED, I tell ya, SHOCKED that someone would do that! FORE!!!skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

flyangel2 2 #32 January 4, 2003 Great, look us up in Tent 3 May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
