Parachutist Mag

Recommended Posts

Hi. I already did a search for this, and found no real answer. Can you subscribe to Parachutist mag w/o being a member of USPA or not? If you can, how do I subscribe?

Yes you can, there is a box marked NEW MEMBER, pay the fee and presto. You can do it online at www.uspa.org

I'm gonna suggest Parachutist to add another box marked WHUFFO, just to make things clear. :D

If you can, I'd like to do that too. I'm a CSPA member, and Canpara sucks. It's more of a newsletter than a mag, 20 pages long with advertisements and articles printed in English and french. Not to mention that I've been a CSPA member since July and I got my first issue last week. Oh, I guess I just did mention that:S. A real skydiving magazine every month would be sweet

I got nuthin

So I do need to become a member? You've already done so much to help already (w/ my computer speakers). Thank you!

Subscribing to the mag makes you a member.

I'm always happy to help, you're welcome. :)

I finally broke down and joined USPA a few weeks ago.Got my card right before Christmas.I was going to wait and do it the same time I sent off for my A but its taking longer than I'd hoped for me to work on my A stuff,so I figured "what the hell?" hmm,I wonder when I'll be getting my first issue of Parachutist.

pick up a paracutist magazine and turn to page 4, bottom left corner reads: "...subscription rates for non members $35 per year; for first class$65..."
It really doesn't say how to do it though other than mailing something in. Try emailing lbaxter@uspa.org and see what she has to say - USPA website lists her as the Parachutist contact...

Interesting, because according to SIM, you should join the USPA after AFF level 3, now, you will have to wait until next month to get the mag, in other words, by the end of Jan you'll get the Feb issue.

Well that would have been good to know if the DZ I was at during my AFF had told me such.I didn't find out until I had already finished AFF, moved to a different DZ and started SDU coach jumps.I didnt get a copy of the SIM til I was doing solos either..no one told me I needed one.:$ Guess this was mostly my fault for not asking either.:$

Oh well,I'm getting things fixed now.:)

I finally got around to joining the USPA at 150 jumps when I applied for my C licence, which is the only licence I ever applied for. I'm saving up to apply for the PRO rating, my Tandem rating and my Coach rating all at once. 50 jumps to go on the tandem/pro;)

How does it work with insurance in USPA. For CSPA, you're insured (PL/PD) as a student under the DZ for the first 10 jumps, but then you have to become a member or you've got no insurance. Is there something similar in USPA. Will USPA DZs let non-USPA jumpers from other DZs in the states jump without buying a USPA membership?

I'm going to guess that Parachutist isn't much better. Check out Skydiving, much better IMO.
