Sinkster 0 #1 January 2, 2003 Just want to say that I just graduated from college and got a new job in Houston and am moving there in a couple weeks and will be jumping at Skydive Houston probably. Also, I want to apologize to all the "unfortunate" liberals and democrats out there because God is not a republican or a democrat, etc. and I've been way to extreme and stupid in my views on that and hope now only to support what is truly right whatever group it may be in. I also agree with bill von about the oil and gas stuff. Anyhow, here's to an awesome new year! Blue skies, Sinkster

Sinkster 0 #8 January 2, 2003 hey now! I'm just trying to give a good vibe and let everyone know that I really am open minded and fun and not a bible-thumping dogmatic sourpuss even though ya'll manage to incite me to post on all the religious threads! I still have strong opinions and hold to them, but I no longer want to view it as an "us versus them" thing but rather a problem that we all need to work on--myself included. hehe It's a new year so why not start it out right and on the right foot?! The job is actually in consulting (technical type, i have a degree in computer science) with the company that Ramon works for (I met him when I went to interview; what a coincidence!). Finally, I will be able to skydive as much as I want to! It's a great time to be free and single!

craichead 0 #11 January 2, 2003 This thread just reminded me of the song "God" by Pat McCurdy. Here are the lyrics: God loves capitalists more than communists. God loves fundamentalists more than Methodists. God loves Americans more than Canadians. God loves nuclear power God loves the stars and stripes. God loves Handi-Wipes, thinks they're so convenient. God knows where the yellow went. God has a VCR. John Wayne is the biggest star, up in the Ivory Tower. God doesn't love the Pope. God likes Pepsi more than Coke. He won't drive a Subaru or a BMW. God packs a magnum for protection not for fun. God says make my day. God votes Republican, the only way to get things done. God loves makin' dough, don't like payin' taxes though. God loves Disneyland, loves a man to be a man. God loves the USA. God loves democracy more than aristocracy. God hates Iraqians, Russians, Jews and Libyans (And anyone else who isn't a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant). God is good, God is great. God don't like the welfare state (He hates Sweden). God drives a Chevrolet. God made petroleum to make my Winnebago run. God made plants and trees. We can waste them as we please. God loves the strong and tall. God loves white folks most of all. God loves the USA. God loves the USA. God loves the USA. He told me personally, and I know what God likes __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
AggieDave 6 #12 January 2, 2003 You will, I repeat, you WILL have to get your ass up to Aggieland to see where all the fun really is. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Sinkster 0 #14 January 2, 2003 Don't worry! I intend to get to all the drop zones around there including Aggieland and SS. It will be fun to meet all the infamous dz.com people. Ramon jumps at SDH so that's why I am going to start there, but it would be silly not to visit them all. Thanks to all for the welcomes and invites. I also plan to buy a new ff friendly rig asap and start really learning to freefly now that I can afford to jump enough to not just stay a little more than current. Luminous 0 #17 January 2, 2003 Quoteso much more fun and very friendly jumpers...... I jump at both. please expand on this? ADDED: Nevermind. I just get ticked when I see comments like this. Both are great. I frequent SDH w/ occasional trips to Spaceland. flyboy, how many trips to SDH? "Know what your talking about".
wmw999 2,560 #18 January 2, 2003 What he said. I like both DZs for different reasons too. Regardless, welcome to Houston living. Home of cheap housing and rednecks galore. AggieDave 6 #19 January 2, 2003 I've jumped both Spaceland and Waller (skydive h-town) and found them both to be fun DZs. I prefer SD Aggieland, but then again, its 5 minutes from my house and has a really sweet vibe, we're working on correcting the lack of turbine aircraft. Between Spaceland and Waller, I'd choose Waller, I know more people there and it has more of a "small-type DZ atmosphere" but that's just a personal observation and is probably due to knowing more people there. Rule of thumb: Try them all and find the one that you find to be more like you with people you enjoy, since everyone will be very biased in telling you were to go...*cough*aggieland*cough* --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #20 January 2, 2003 Quote rednecks galore One, what's wrong with that and two, H-town isn't the capital of Texas red, its very very low compared to a lot of places I've been.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
