Jimbo 0 #35 January 3, 2003 QuoteIf all the american commercial beer in the world were free, I would drink my own piss first. Is it commercial beers, mega-brew beers, or American beers that you take issue with? Personally I think that this fine country brews some of the best damn beer on the planet. Micro-breweries are at an all time high, many sell (commercial) on a national or at least regional level (though many don't,) and the big boys are starting to take notice. AB recently announced plans to market a premium stout and while I don't have high hopes for this drink I think it does signify the rebirth of 'good' beer in America. So, I'll ask again, what exactly is it about American beer that you don't like? What's your drink of choice? - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. narcimund 0 #36 January 3, 2003 Jimbo, good question. I completely agree that there are some fantastic beers brewed in America. I live in Portland which is the rebirthplace of the microbrew movement. We have an astounding collection of locally brewed, freshly available ales and literally dozens of comfy, friendly neighborhood brewpubs and pubs to drink them in. This is also an untold hotbed of handcrafted ale and beer hobbyist activity. It's a hoppin' subculture of grain beverage enthusiasm. Yum. I'm disgusted by the mass produced lagers and artificially ale-flavored lagers produced by the megalithic multinational factory conglomerates. They are flat out evil corporations and their chemical swill is vile. First Class Citizen Twice Over
Jimbo 0 #37 January 3, 2003 Quote I completely agree that there are some fantastic beers brewed in America. I'll do you one better and suggest that MOST of the beers brewed here in America are of substantial quality. When I walk into my local beer store I see at least a dozen coolers stocked with more microbrews than I can remember and only a few coolers stocked with American mega-swill. Of those few coolers stocked with the American mega-swill it seems that they'll all Bud/Miller/Coors. It's true that the Bud/Miller/Coors market is larger, but of the number of beers being brewed today I think that most of them are what we would call good. jfields 0 #45 January 3, 2003 I plan to be at the WFFC for 4-5 days. My bankroll is ready. Now I just have to get better at packing, so I can make more than a couple jumps each day. I pack like frozen molasses flows uphill.

jfields 0 #47 January 3, 2003 Quote packing slow seems to be the norm You've never seen me pack. Then again, pretty much nobody has, including myself. I generally know how, and have jumped my own pack jobs before. It takes me so long that I seldom do it because I don't want to spend my rare jump days packing instead of jumping. I just have to practice a ton before then to reduce my reliance on packers that I'm sure will be scarce or overloaded.

jfields 0 #49 January 3, 2003 Hmm. Having never been to a really big boogie, I thought they'd be swamped and have long lines. Kind of a side issue for me, honestly. Even if I use packers occasionally once I'm good at it, I had set myself a goal of being self-sufficient by Rantoul. Right now, my packing sucks. Really, really sucks.
