jessd 0 #1 January 7, 2003 I don't know why I had the urge to post this but...There is a story behind it. About 10 years ago I was in a car accident and lost my front tooth. For 10 years I had to wear this tooth on a retainer type thing - I had to take it out to eat and sleep and it was real uncomfortable. Anyway, when I had enough money saved I decided to get one of those dental implants. As luck would have it, I needed to have 3 reconstructive surgerys on the bone in my gums and my gums before I could get the implant. In June last year the implant/tooth was finally finished. Recently I have been having major pain in the area. I thought that I was going to have to have the implant removed and go back to wearing the removable tooth. But, I went to the dentist today and he said that it's okay - I don't have to have it removed. I was so happy because I spent close to $6000 over a 2-year period to have this done. Anyway, attached is the x-ray that shows the implant (looks like a screw). I just think that it looks neat - kinda bionic or something. jessd 0 #4 January 7, 2003 Last October 2001 was my last surgical procedure. They gave me some percocet - I basically lived off of them for days each time I hade something done. Not as good as the diloded (misspelled??) that I had when I had surgery in November though. That shit takes only seconds to kick in. CrazyIvan 0 #11 January 7, 2003 Years ago, I had a car accident (there's a thread about it) and when they X-ray me to check for internal injuries, I scared the hell out of the doctors. jfields 0 #15 January 7, 2003 I had 5 wisdom teeth taken out at the same time. It was enough that they just put me under for the procedure. Decent drugs afterwards though. The dentist doesn't really bother me. My father is a dentist, so I spent more time hanging around a dental office than you can imagine. Fun toys like X-ray machines, mercury, plaster, etc.

ernokaikkonen 0 #17 January 7, 2003 I had 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time, local anaesthetic. The doc was only willing to take 2 at a time, but the experience was unpleasant enough, I wasn't going to sit on that chair again! So I managed to say that I wanted the other side done too. The doc said that I'd have really sore gums and that I probably couldn't eat for a couple of days, so maybe he shouldn't. I made it very clear that I wanted them done now.Ibuprofen for after the procedure, three days off from work. I'm glad I don't have to go through that again. freefallfreak 0 #19 January 7, 2003 Dear - is that a polite way (the x-ray) of saying that your dentist "screwed" you orally?? DTOXX 0 #20 January 7, 2003 On the last day of my 8th grade year I had a front tooth chipped by catching a desk with my face. I spend the next 18 or so years with this until I saw the movie Dumb and Dumber. Damn if it didn't make me rush to the dentist with a FIX THIS mentality. ------- D.T.
