Sebazz1 2 #1 January 6, 2003 I did not post anything in the incident forum because I have no info regarding the actual accident. Our DZ.com buddy Franck who was in Eloy was in a canopy collision yesterday in Byron CA. Both jumpers where airlifted out. Let's send some good vibes to those involved. If anyone hears anything about his recovery please let us know...

mouth 0 #5 January 6, 2003 This is horrible. I really enjoyed meeting and jumping with "Franck from France". My thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. lizzieb 0 #6 January 6, 2003 I was there and posted my account of things in the incidents forum. Franck was less seriously hurt...he was complaining of pain in his lower abdomen, but his vitals were good and he was pretty lucid. The other jumper was having trouble breathing and might have suffered more serious internal trauma.
Michele 1 #7 January 6, 2003 Good vibes for both jumpers! Let us know what's going on, and how we can contact him. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

r2hubert 0 #9 January 6, 2003 I just get his wife on the phone, Franck had some liquid in his stomach yesterday and had an immediate surgery. His stomach is fine today, and doctors are looking towards his back. Apparently some lower back bones (lumbar) may be broken... His wife say his looks fine and will give more news later. Thanks to support him and don't forget this other jumper. I don't have any information about the other jumper I hope he is on his way to recovery too.!!! Deuce 1 #11 January 6, 2003 Oh, that's awful. Franck was in the four-way base of our successful 6-way hybrid at Eloy. Fun guy, and I'm glad to hear he's recovering. Anybody know who the other jumper is? Please post or PM me. JP

Sebazz1 2 #13 January 6, 2003 The other individuals name was Carol. I have a little snippet from a PM I recived below... QuoteYeah, I know Carol pretty good. A really nice guy. He's very nice to lowtimers, and I'm betting he did some RW with Franck, cause he's just really nice that way. Just hopeing for the best for both... lizzieb 0 #14 January 6, 2003 on a slight side note i just wanted to give major props to all the people out in byron yesterday who reacted calmly, swiftly, and effectively to this accident. in a situation like this where minutes can make such a huge difference it is so important to be on the ball, and eveyone there certainly was. my best wishes to franck and carol... r2hubert 0 #15 January 7, 2003 I got a new update from Franck's wife. He is still in the ICU of John Muir, in Walnut Creek. He is recovering from the first surgery he had on Sunday night (to address some internal hemorrhaging). A new surgery is scheduled for the next couple of days to fix his back. There is damage to his lumbar areas and they have to put rods to fix his spine. On the positive side, they expect him to be able to walk when this is over. I still don't have any news from Carol. If somebody have some updates, please share. Thanks... -- Renaud SMA #9 "Mind is like parachute. It only functions when it's open."

lizzieb 0 #18 January 7, 2003 when i talked to Franck's wife yesterday, she told me she had spoken with Carrol's family and that his condition was slowing progressing . That is not to say that he will be fine when all is said and done (he is still in the ICU and will remain there for awhile) but the outlook is considerably more positive from when he arrived Sunday night. Keep sending those good vibes everyone...

lizzieb 0 #23 January 8, 2003 another carrol shaw update from NCS... "He's in pretty bad shape as you can imagine, but the prognosis right now is for cautious optimism. As for his injuries, his main ones are collapsed and bruised lungs, a shattered pelvis, facial fractures, and a lacerated liver. He has many tubes going in and out of him right now, and he's hooked up to a variety of machines to assist him in medication, monitoring and breathing. He's very heavily sedated, for obvious reasons, and has a trach tube, a chest aspiration tube, and a stomach tube, as well as quite a few IV's."
