BEER

Recommended Posts

This is a topic that hasnt been discussed in quite a while. Let's see what are people's preferences and why. Perosnally I am a big fan of "FREE" beer. Now if I have to pay for it, and I am in Texas, I ususallu go for Shiner or Honey Brown. I also am fond of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Russian IPA, Guinessssss, Harp, Phat Tire, and Bud Light (just kidding).

It's strange...

The desirable beer is ALWAYS the imported one:S.

Maybe I'm just "Counter-Culture", but having been brought up within 30 miles of where Newcstle Brown Ale was made it's one of my first choices when I'm in my home village Miners Welfare, that and other local beers. When I'm in the US the it was "Bud" (which is a designer beer at home:o) or better yet Michelob. In Singapore and SE Asia it was Tiger. In Plzen it was... Can't remember, so it was A LOT OF...

Personally wherever I am I tend to go local, not imported... Of course it does involve a lot of money spent on travel, but a lot saved on beer costs, so I suppose it kind of balances out...

Time to get the atlas out...:D.

Mike.

The best are Americans/Canadians that go to Holland and order Bud light.

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

If I can get it and spell it right, MieslWeiss, is the nectar of the gods, and for normal day to day consupmtion, Amstel or New Castle. But there are some great local beers called Charleston Pale Ale and Carolina Blonde, both wonderful choices

I like a nice dark ale over a watery lager almost every day (except on hot summer days and nights and mornings...) but haven't found a favourite yet. But i sure enjoy the search;).
On a related subject; we held a beer tasting contest at our pre-ny party with the skydiving club. Six beers to identify, 10 contestants (it's a small club, right). Among the beers were some imported and some local (anyone from my country will claim they can identify at least the two most popular, which were among the choices). The results; after two recounts, the guy closely affiliated with the judges (camera flyer in their rw team) won with 3 hits. I placed third with one wild guess right. Most of the 'experts' competing didn't even score.
What was the prize you ask? Why, beer of course. (for anyone who could still drink any:ph34r:)

I hate the stuff, but they sell a lot of it here, so I guess it sells. They sell those metallic barrels of the stuff. Ugh.
