Will anyone be going to...

Recommended Posts

the parachutist symposium in Jacksonville, FL. (about 20 minutes away from where I live on Atlantic Beach) or the Swoop Festival in Panama City, FL.?

The symposium is Jan. 26--31. There will be jumps all week and helicopter jumps as well.

The Swoop Festisval is not for a while but I'm VERY EXCITED that the PST finally has a stop on the East Coast in Panama. It's in April and there will be beach jumps for regular jumpers, too, a helicopter, and plenty of normal-altitude jumps.

I'm not advertising, but rather, am hoping I will get to meet some of you at these events. It's not often I get to go to "special events" like Eloy, blah, blah, blah;)...and these are the two closest things I know I will be going to.

Anyone else?:P

While you're planning - put mardi gras boogie on your list (gold coast skydivers -- moss point, Mississippi) that shouldn't be that far of a drive for you.

You might see me lurking around in the shadows up there at some time. :)

Hey Andi, I really want to go to the symposium, there is a lot of new stuff I want to see. Rumor has it that Relative Workshop has some cool toys they are going to display, and I cant wait to see them. Also with the new canopies from all the companies I would love to see what the future of skydiving has in store. So if your going lemmie know so I can sneak in your Van for a ride.

This will be my 6th Symposium, only missing 1995. Third on staff, second as a speaker. As a part time rigger and instructor I've found these invaluable over the years. Some of the talks are repetitive when you go to them all, but there's always something to learn. Look me up at registration, the syposium headquarters room, or the bar.;)

Also remember, the PIA business meetings Thursday to Sunday are open to all. Come visit and watch you favorite gear manufacturers "discuss" the issues. Some of the stuff is boring meeting stuff, but the rigging and technical committees are pretty good discussions.

I'll have my new lap top and digital camera there. I'll try to post some pics during the week.

P.S. I'm going to be down there the weekend before (the 18th.). Anything going on then at the local DZ's?

When exactly will everything be going on? The ad says the 26th through 31st but is there anything in addition to that, like the 25th or Feb. 1? I'm working the 27th-31st from 8:30 to 5 so I can only come on the weekend days and so far the only weekend day, I know of, is the 26th.:P

Thanks a bunch....tell me what to look for, too.

I'm easy to spot, loong blonde hair, and rest assure, Skymama CAN NOT nide in the shadows...you will still notice her, she's too beautiful not to;)

I don't plan on paying the $95 to hear everything but there is a $5 day pass and whatever that gets me to see, that's what I'll be seeing;):P

That should get you into the exhibit hall, which is where you can see all the newest stuff and talk to the folks who design and build it. Great fun; you'll meet loads of people B|

This nothing on the 26th except registration. But, the exhibits are open till 8:00 pm Tue thru Thursday. Also the technical and rigging committees of PIA meet on sat the 25. See schedule http://www.pia.com/meetingnotices/mtg20030124.pdf

If your only 20 minutes away you might find them interesting. Usually a lively discussion between the manufacturers with us part timers throwing our 2 cents worth in.

Anybodies welcome to set in on any of the PIA business meeting Friday, Sat, and Sun before the symposium.

Thanks, Chris...will I be expecting you?

Unfortunately no since I have very little vacation time accrued right now. I am planning to be in Florida either in May or June. I will expect many spankings while there.;)
