Phil 0 #1 January 9, 2003 Ok, here is the scoop. I'll be at Skyventure from February 6, until the 13 and I'm looking also into doing some jumping. From what I can figure out, Deland would be the closest. Is that correct or are there any other DZ's around? Thanks for your advise. ... .. .how high can you fly with broken wings ... life's a journey not a destination
suz 0 #2 January 9, 2003 Can't help you there buddy! I am in Australia! unless you were thinking of coming here. Plenty of room to pitch a tent in my back yard! lol Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after
Vallerina 2 #3 January 9, 2003 DeLand and Zhills are both pretty close. Both are also cool dzs....I had much difficulty deciding between the two! See if either have any specials going on possibly....Zhills had a helicopter when we were there ($25 to jump from it!) so that made me happy with my decision! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
PLFXpert 0 #4 January 9, 2003 As Val said, from Skyventure, Z-hills, Deland, Titusville (by the space center) and Lake Wales are all about the same distance, give or take 10 minutes. If you know any jumpers (LIKE ME AND SKYMAMA IN DELAND!) at any of these DZs, I'd suggest you go to that one, or maybe hit more than one Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Where the hell were you when *I* was in deland? I swear! Phil, read my review of the fla dzs from my recent trip down there.

PLFXpert 0 #7 January 9, 2003 Didn't you PM me about that Kev? I was there on Christmas Day and the weekend before that, but I think you were there sometime...oh, I forget. I'm sorry we missed each other! I thought you told me you'd be there on Christmas day, too, so if you were, I don't know what to say? I'm usually at the DZ (Deland) every Saturday. Once in a REALLY BLUE moon, I'll go to Skydive Palatka if I've got a lot to do and want to get there, jump my ass off, and get home. We tend to stay longer in Deland. When will you be back down? PLFXpert 0 #9 January 9, 2003 oh, you're one of "those gripper" jumpersHe he he...j/k, Phil. Actually, a lot of times, besides Skymama and me, the incredible, incomperable, amazing jceman is there, too with his lovely wife Lynn. I love these two! As well as rdutch, tbs? (i forget your dz.com screenname tammer) and others, so come on over! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

PLFXpert 0 #11 January 9, 2003 Geez, you people make me sound like a ghost! I feel like I need Skymama to defend me, here....I really am there every week! Ha ha ha. December was a chaotic month, though, with finals, job-hunting, graduating, etc. so I wasn't there as regularly as I normally am. I hit Palatka once instead and went on weird days to Deland, but 99% of the time, I'm there every Saturday. Now that I"m done with school, this year, I want to make trips to other DZs as well. I havne't been able to do that before, and have only jumped in Deland, Palatka and the Deep Woods Ranch. I want to go to Z-hills REALLY BAD and meet Dove and gang. I"m about to post another thread about two other events I'm going to....hopefully some of you guys can make it! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. PLFXpert 0 #13 January 9, 2003 Deal! As I'm starting my new job in a week, I have NO IDEA when I'll have vacation time, but I'm sure I'll be able to take a weekend, etc. I do have weekends off, another part of why I'm loving this job! I also got two free round trip tickets to anywhere in the continental US for graduation and I want to go to Vegas and gamble, skydive, and BASE from this place near there that I heard was a GREAT BASE spot so maybe I'll see JT, again. I know he's missed me terribly since he left overseas. Ha ha ha Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Ha ha ha Yeah I saw on realtv that the roof of the mirage is evidentally a good place to base :) (just don't land on the strip and get caught like the guys in the tape did)
PLFXpert 0 #15 January 9, 2003 He he he...OK, at the risk of sounding like a princess...here goes: I REALLY want to BASE, but in FL, all there is to BASE from is towers that you have to climb. It's very tiring and I'm not a fan of climbing, though I've repelled a LOT and I LOVE repelling. So, spoiled me, wants either a building and ride the elevator, a big cliff and ride the helicopter, or a bridge and drive up there to jump off of. Ha ha ha. I heard the cave jump is an intermediate BASE level so I need to get quite a few BASE's in so I can do that, b/c the CAVE is my #1 desired spot to go. I really, really, REALLY want to do the cave! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
skymama 37 #16 January 9, 2003 Hey Phil~ I'm scheduled to be jumping on the weekend that you're going to be in town,so if you want to head out to Deland, I'll be there and can show you around and hook you up with the belly fliers. Ask Val, she had a great time when she was here. Feel free to pm me if you have any more questions about the area. And if you have questions about the tunnel, Arlo works there and is super nice about helping people from the forums. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

weegegirl 2 #20 January 9, 2003 I just did the Florida tour - SkyVenture, Deland, ZHills, Lake Wales, Pahokee... They all have great things about them. If it goes between Deland and ZHills, it should pretty much come down to the people and the aircraft. Deland has a kickass skyvan and porter, but ZHills has 4 super otters. Hmmmm.... hit both.
