PLFXpert 0 #5 January 7, 2003 He he he...actually I heard it first about a week ago on CNN before the mother and her "cloned" baby actually arrived back in the US. The best part is Clone-Aid run by the Raelians who look like Star Trek. It's really entertaining, whether it's true or not Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. SkydiveMonkey 0 #6 January 7, 2003 Anyway - my opinion is ... THIS IS FUBAR !! It's going to get to the point where we're cloning people for body parts. Shouldn't happen. ____________________ Say no to subliminal messages

dterrick 0 #8 January 7, 2003 Nope. Man from Glad. Scaramanga. Mr. Roarke. I wondered when the 'Dude where's my Car's ' "Zoltan" cult might emerge in real life ... Deleted 0 #9 January 7, 2003 It may be, but it will happen soon. And I see nothing wrong to make body parts, like a new heart or kidney, but to let the clone go to full growth I feel it is wrong. But it will happen, we can govern our own country, but not others.

Don't worry - it may not appeal to your good sense, but we'll get used to it. In a few generations, it will be considered normal. After all, we use dead people's body parts now. Does that seem normal to you? I'm sure when they started doing that, a lot of people thought it was bad too.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. Your _body_ clones your own cells for repair, replacement and maintenance of your tissues. We're not doing anything that nature doesn't do already, we're just altering the process. Guest #18 January 7, 2003 I heard on the BBC today that it's baloney. The "Railiens" (or whatever they're calling themselves) have refused to allow DNA testing to confirm the claim. The British scientists who cloned Dolly the Sheep have said it's either bogus, or the most heinous violation of ethics ever (there's no way they would have got it perfect on the first try). That pretty much ties the bow on it, in my book. Besides, I wonder where "Cult 45" got millions in research money anyway."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." SpeedRacer 1 #22 January 7, 2003 QuoteOk, so you grow a clone, tell it "sorry, we're going to kill you now to harvest your organs" well I think you're talking about creating a whole person. But what about figuring out ways to grow up organs in vitro? Like grab a few healthy cells from you & expose them to the correct hormones etc. & grow up a replacement heart? Or more realistically, remove some cells from the pancreas of a diabetic, genetically alter them so that they produce insulin, and grow them up, then stick 'em back in the diabetic's pancreas. That's a type of cloning too. Difference is: you're not cloning up a whole person, just parts or cells. SkydiveMonkey 0 #23 January 7, 2003 I think that's a different issue to growing a complete clone though____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
SpeedRacer 1 #24 January 7, 2003 re to Skydivemonkey: exactly, that's my point. back to the original post: Although it is of course possible to clone a human, I think these Raelians are a bunch of flakes & I won't believe anything they claim until there's some proof.
