skybytch 273 #28 January 11, 2003 Show me one post here by Craig Girard and I'll STFU, but until then I call bullshit. This point has been argued before, do a search - record holders have to have made at least one post prior to the day of the record attempt. That was called specifically so us Cali people couldn't pull some ringers off the dz to make it happen. No post here by Craig and your "record" stands? Next time we'll grab Pat McGowan, Tony Domenico and/or whichever other highly experienced belly fliers happen to be on the dz at Perris that day - take 'em to the bar, get 'em registered and watch your "record" fall to the floor. The Cali crew still hold the Texas rules record of 13, and on the 10 way we managed 2 points. So nyah nyah, we're still better than you. Regardless, let's get together and smash all previous records Memorial Day weekend at Perris!

mouth 0 #30 January 11, 2003 Either way on the Eloy one it was fun and that was MY goal. As for Perris...count me in! Now everyone be nice! -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
jceman 1 #31 January 11, 2003 Quote Again, I shall defer this to the HH and his red fork of power Not so fast there, Grasshopper! HH may make the rules here on dz.com (and his word IS the law), this is his virtual dropzone; but on this matter, which occurs on actual dropzones, his opinion is worth less than a flea bite on an elephant's arse. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

skybytch 273 #34 January 11, 2003 From the magazine cover thread - Deuce said - Quote If the rule is that 12 get out and 12 dock, then it doesn't make that standard. I think we had 18 get out. The rule is the number dirt dived must be the number in the formation. So you were really one body shy of the Texas rules record of 13... which, btw, is also held by the March Cali crew.
skycat 0 #35 January 13, 2003 Quote Quote That is not a record - you guys had several people out of the formation...... HELL YEAH IT IS!! We declared an attempt beforehand and we surpassed the last record. Therefore it is a new DZ.com record. Too bad you decided not to jump with us, otherwise you could be one of the new record holders For the record Cyndi sat on the ground with me that day for 2 reasons. 1) her foot which she just had surgery was bothering her and 2) so I didn't hate every moment I was there and not drinking. So she chose to be a real friend to me, and you know what that was the best day I had there, did you know every other night I went to my tent crying cause all I could do was sit on the ground and walk around by myself. So anyone who gives her shit for being a friend to me.....(btw...I can count on 1 hand the people who came to talk to me during the day) has me to answer to. Fly it like you stole it! Vallerina 2 #37 January 13, 2003 Quote So she chose to be a real friend to me, and you know what that was the best day I had there And I think that is the most important part. Skydivers are supposed to be "cool" and whatnot; doing what TequilaGirl did makes her cool. Bickering about a record that you don't actually receive a prize/money/reward for does not. I guess another point to bring into the whole "record" thing....they didn't count the 316-way as a new world record. Also, we didn't really care if we got the record or not when doing our attempts. I skydive because it's fun, not to get a pat on the back.
Michele 1 #38 January 13, 2003 QuoteRegardless, let's get together and smash all previous records Memorial Day weekend at Perris Tell ya what, Lisa and all - I'll run ground crew, and cheer loudly whether it goes or not...as evidenced by the other day's jump, I am beyond "not ready" to fly in the record, but I'll set a record for the best ground crewing there is. How's that? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

AggieDave 6 #40 January 13, 2003 Reality check folks! The entire DZ.com record stuff stemmed from some jokes waaaay back on the very first forums. It started with a 4-way when we had maybe about 100 users. You know what made it special? The point of the record was actually the very first "Gathering" to meet the people you've been chatting with on the 'net. We went through this horseshit about rules and rules and other stupid stuff about the "record ways" back when the Texas crew declared their record. Even then too many people got bent out of shape. HH pretty much left it to us to decide what we would consider fair, which was good and bad of him, since we obviously never fully decided. Now, feel free to continue this discussion, but with a warning: be nice, this was supposed to be fun!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Shark 0 #42 January 13, 2003 Quote Now, feel free to continue this discussion, but with a warning: be nice, this was supposed to be fun! That, it is. sunshine 2 #47 January 13, 2003 I think thats why i don't participate in dz.com record attempts anymore. Some peeps take it too seriously and somehow the fun gets lost. I remember last May at Hinckley when a group of us tried a record and had a blast. None of us cared that we didn't get it. It was all about the fun. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
