Gawain 0 #1 January 13, 2003 If I'm duplicating efforts here, so sorry...(well not really but you know! ) 150:4:0 150 miles driven today looking for apartments (my current residence is for sale and I can't afford to buy it). FOUR GREAT JUMPS (good story for that too) and no cases of beer owed. For the jumps, my friend (whom I'll not identify because that is not my call, but those that know at Elsinore know) is having Kidney transplant surgery near the end of the month. This weekend was the last weekend he'll be able to skydive EVER AGAIN. Apparently, when the surgery is performed, they don't take your old kidneys out, they just put the new one in the front, near the liver or behind the intestine or somewhere in there. We got some great jumps in and had a great BBQ and party last night to mark the occasion. Truly a time to remember how cool our family of skydivers is. edit: corrected some spelling... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! I'll be in Z-hills next weekend, and maybe I'll get up enough nerve to do my night jumps! skybytch 273 #4 January 13, 2003 4:0:1 4 hours flying instead of 8 hours driving:self explanatory:first time flying to Vegas Quote my friend (whom I'll not identify because that is not my call, but those that know at Elsinore know) is having Kidney transplant surgery near the end of the month. My best wishes go out to your friend; I hope his transplant goes as well as my cousin's did. I'm sure the docs have warned him, but the new one may not start working right away; my cuz was on dialysis for a month or so after the transplant before the new one started to really do it's job, but it's working great now Another good time to remind everyone - if you aren't an organ donor, please, please, please - fill out the paperwork and talk with your family about it, and do it NOW. What an incredible gift a donated organ is to someone who may die without it. Wouldn't you like to know that after you go, a piece of you can live on and give someone a chance to not just enjoy life again but in many cases the chance to just live? AggieDave 6 #10 January 13, 2003 3(hours I played guitar today):0:0 Weather sucked, so I played guitar, much to the dismay of my now very sore fingers. Oh-well, I've also restarted my workout program, to un-porkify myself and get back to the body I had a year ago (much larger and much leaner). So, the new year starts for me, school starts tomorrow and life is good.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jceman 1 #11 January 13, 2003 46 days until our latest grandchild:1:0 We made our beer jump of 2003 on Sat. Would have made more, but Lynn was a bit dizzy at altitude due to the meds she's taking for a sciatic nerve problem (much better after treatment) so we decided to call it. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
Michele 1 #12 January 13, 2003 0:3:1 See my post Hugs for a complete breakdown...as for the beer, it's the first time getting separated from the group...I felt so lonely there! And I tried to get to the Bombshelter quickly enough to buy beer, but was late, so bought them dinner instead... As one of the participants, I can say that it was a great time. Spent most of the morning going over emergency proceedures and giving the Cat E & F quizzes to Lawrocket, then an accuracy jump for my PRO rating. 4 more to go. Then a really fun 8 Way; my last jump with our buddy who's going to get the kidney. Afterwards, I met a new jumper who did her level 1. She was really stoked and I invited her to the bbq and introduced her to the locals. It was a great day even though I only got 2 jumps. Send some good vibes out to our friend and fellow skydiver. Cornholio 0 #16 January 13, 2003 0:2:1 I jumped down in Hollister today with the great Sebazz!! Called up Byron today and they said that they were fogged in and might not clear up like yesterday. Called up Hollister and they said that the conditions were great and they were jumping I owe a case (according to Seb ) cause I saw a pair of shoes that were exactly like mine at the dz for the first time...LOL Thanks for the jumps and laughs guys. I swear sometimes you guys seem a hell of a lot more friendly than other dropzones... Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! PLFXpert 0 #17 January 13, 2003 Just two jumps but they were both fun as hell! I had my reserve test jumped and then repacked in the morning so I wasn't able to get up in the sky until mid-afternoon. The two jumps I did were a 5-way freefly (head-down, sit and stand) and a 9-way tracking jump. I was stoked b/c before this past weekend, the largest # of tracking people I did a jump w/ was 3. I was right near the leader the whole time until the very end. Wooo hooo! Next weekend I'm doing a Mr. Bill! Vladi is going to hook me up tandem w/ my rig over top of the tandem harness and hook me up to him backwards, then jump, pull, lift me up, unhook the harness and WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm stoked! I wonder if it's possible to get video? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
