Rdutch 0 #1 January 20, 2003 Being a "do it yourself" kind of person. I needed a reline on the new canopy I just bought. Luckly the canopy came with a new line set, not installed. So I asked a rigger friend of mine if he could assist and teach me how to do it. So we went and started, but he wanted me to do it so he watched and talked me through it, I must say it wasnt hard, but wasnt easy. And I was glad to see that I did it! Then the fear set in. I just get back and there is a team that want's video, sweet paid skydive on my new lineset. I was just about to buy a hop-n-pop, so off to the plane. Jump time during freefall, "oh shit hope I did it right, hope it works, oh yeah do a good job shooting video as well". Pull time comes dump, grab cutaway handle, look up, Oh yeah! the sweetest velocity opening I have ever had. Its cool to do something yourself that work's, its even cooler to have someone that knows how to do what your doing watch you and help. And the best thing is the canopy is the sweetest velocity I have ever flown. Well, here's to the next lineset. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! I've been lucky and haven't had to pack my own pack job to jump yet, but I had a friend show my how to pro-pack and his load came up so he went and jumped it, I was a nervous reck just because I didn't expect him to jump it I thought he was just teaching me......that trip to altitude seemed like for ever!!! Sure enough he had a sweete opening and now I'm ready to start packing my own! I didn't do it before now because it seemed like toooo much information. PAck a main without assistance is a requirement for your A, so I think it all falls into the same idea.- GQ ... it was the love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty ... -Charles Lindberg

quatorze 1 #7 January 20, 2003 Sista, I feel ya, my bud, Listo (Tandem, video guy) was rushing to get a vid edited and said that he would pay me a 10 spot to pack his rig so that he could get on the next load, I told him no to the $$ and went on and packed, needless to say, it was a bit of a relief to see the Schweet opening that I had packed for him, needless to say that it opened was a nice feeleing too I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
weid14 0 #8 January 20, 2003 did you bar tack and everything? pretty cool, did you get rid of the stilleto and go smaller on the velo?
Rdutch 0 #9 January 20, 2003 Quotedid you bar tack and everything? pretty cool, did you get rid of the stilleto and go smaller on the velo? I've had a Velocity 111 for about 2 years now, I only jumped the stilletto cause it was Free, but for the past year Ive been jumping Niklas 96 every chance I had, so I broke down and bought one. Hard decision 90, 96, 90 96, which one to buy. I like them both but the 96 was a little more practical for video work. I found that out yesterday when I was filming a girls 4way team that all jumped 150+ sq ft canopies. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
