It would be nice...

... if more threads had complete subjects.

With dozens of threads appearing every day, it's not my goal to look at all of them. I'd rather get a pretty good idea of what the thread's about BEFORE I open it so I can skip ones that just don't apply to me. I assume most people don't enjoy wasting their time on highly specialized threads that are for someone else either.

Example: If the topic is "I'd like a...", every dropzone.com user worldwide has to open it to find out that the first line is "... ride from downtown Portland to Skydive Oregon next Tuesday." 30 seconds wasted!

So save us all some effort. Put at least one real clue in the subject of your threads.

Damn, Narcimund, I just wasted 30 seconds of my life because you didn't complete your subject line and I opened a thread that doesn't apply to me! :P

I think it's probably done that way to entice people to open their threads so they can have a lot of views on it and make them feel special. ;)

ditto.

I mean, why bother clicking on a thread that you won't even make eloquent and meaningful additions to, like Muenkel just did? We look for subjects where we can contribute meaningful dialogue, not just inane postwhoring repetitions of other people's ideas. Right, Muenkel? I know you're with me on this. ;)

Andy Rooney!
Yep I got, I got it!
That's always a good style that gets to the point that should have been made much prior but, no one bothered.

Maybe, we should adopt a standard DZ post nomenclature, with one-letter abbreviations.

1. Begin with the subject (ex. B=BEER, O=BOOBIES, J=JUMPING, K=JOKE, F=MY FUCKED UP LIFE). Combinations are acceptable (ex. BF=BEER FUCKED UP MY LIFE).
2. Follow with a unique identifier for the thread (a one-word subject) in lower-case.
3. Include with the the source of information (N=NEWS, R=RUMOR, O=OPINION, S=I MAKE THIS SHIT UP).
4. Add what the point of the thread is (L=MAKE YOU LAUGH, S=LOOKING FOR SYMPATHY, Q=QUESTION, R=SOLICITING ANY RESPONSE, P=RANDOM POST WHORE)
5. Append with random ackronyms (N=NSFW, F=ROTFL, etc).

Therefore, all post subjects will be short concise and unreadable. The ongoing post about the "best" skydiver (whatever that means), would look like this:

JbestOR

If there, were, by chance, a second post that had the same combination, you could append a dot notation, as in:

JbestOR.2

I think that's clear enough, don't you? Did I ever mention that I used to work for a defense contractor?
