Animaniacs was the hier to the subtle intellectual cartoon stuff that looney toons once had..unfortunately it got big and got stupid then vanished and tiny toons took over... got to love a show that rhymes the states and capitals to the tune of the beverly hill billies... the basic plot for every show was that they would annoy a historical figure.. Beethoven, Death, Einstein, Hitler, Satan, Shakespeare, Picasso. etc....lots of cool subtle stuff that was really funny and somewhat educational, as well as stooges slapstick...parodied lots of movies.. the episode with Death was a parody of the Seventh Sign and a few CK perfume commercials at the same time....unfortunately anything really cool usually goes right over the heads of the idiots that make the programming decisions so.... oh yeah and they had this cool cartoon in most episodes..”good idea, bad idea”____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. AggieDave 6 #10 January 24, 2003 Otherway around, Tiny Toons came out a good 4 years before Animaniacs. Animaniacs was the answer to Tiny Toons, since they weren't *that* great. Pinky and The Brain spawned from sketches on Animaniacs. They're still on TV, you'll catch them on Nickolodian or Cartoon Network. Now, what I really with was still on was the Tick cartoon! Zenister 0 #11 January 24, 2003 ja your right....was doing to many drugs then...tiny toons started off with some nice high brow refrences..in one art oriented episode they founc Picasso's glasses and had a game show where they gave away a Jackson Pollack paint by numbers kit.. i nearly sprayed my coke when i saw it.. then animaniacs came out and tiny toons got 'dumbed down'..unfortunately tiny toons is still running isnt it? blewaway5 0 #12 January 24, 2003 I miss The Tick. That was one of the all time best cartoons ever! I think my favorite was the one were Tick got a mustache which promptly started dragging his ass all over the place. Turns out it was looking for the beard. Finally they were reunited an lived happily ever after. If I remember right they may have even rode off into the sunset.
