AggieDave 6 #3 January 24, 2003 Now see, what I'm excited about is the new Harry Potter book coming out in June. I admit it, I'm a very advid reader, lots of history texts/biographies and stuff like that, but I love that kids book series...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skygod7777 0 #5 January 24, 2003 it's kinda funny though, not about the harry potter book , but i can read some of the books on skydiving shit, like the "skydiving with your pants on fire" or the sim, or whatever. i read that. but things like regular books, i just end up doing someting else, like going out to the dz and jumpin and it's kinda funny too when i pull out one of those in study hall, or a skydiving magazine, or parachitist, i sometimes get some funny looks, or really dumb "whaffo" questions. later

skip 0 #8 January 24, 2003 Quotehe really killed me when he left the group on the train....AAAHHH!!!! Amazing. It's been YEARS since I have picked up a Stephen King book, and that is one of the last things I remember. Talk about an abrupt ending to a great book. I guess that was the third book? I should go pick up the fourth. .:skip
jerry81 10 #9 January 24, 2003 I have practically everything he wrote collecting dust on a remote bookshelf somewhere... I was really into his crap in high school, but then I just kinda outgrew it. There are books that are just so more worthy of my timeThe Dark Tower series is a sort of a center point for his works- a lot of his other books relate to it in some way or another. And while he's capable of spewing out those books at a rate of two or three per year, he's REALLY taking his time with The Dark Tower.
Michele 1 #10 January 24, 2003 Stephen King books have been known to come before food in my house...I've been disappointed in some of his stuff, and his early stuff is very different from his stuff in the last 10 years or so. I do really enjoy his world building though - the Gunslinger series especially - seeing characters who played small roles in other books (or family members of characters from other books, in one or two cases) reappear as characters in his short stories and/or the 'Slinger series is fascinating. I do believe I have all of his books, with the exception of perhaps 2 (one of them shall be purchased soon, however). Did I enjoy all of them? Some more than others; all have had value at one time or another. As to his delay between books, don't forget his accident as well as his vision issues. I suspect he's had a delay or two in his production because of these things. OTOH, I've also heard that he uses someone to "ghost" his stuff, although I dunno if that's true or not. Either way, he is one of the very few authors I wait for... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

My sister has a collection of everything he writes and she keeps it in perfect condition. She hates letting me read her books.I prefer to enjoy my books. They are all lookin pretty used, like they should. dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
skygal3 0 #12 January 24, 2003 I have never finished a Stephen King book because he always goes off on describing something and it takes 3 pages to get back onto the subject...frustrated me easily. Stephen King had a house in the town I used to live in, he is an ass.
miller 0 #13 January 24, 2003 Dark Tower 5 is finished, all 900 pages of it. It's called "The Wolves of the Calla" I don't think there's a release set, but it will probably be within a year.
PhillyKev 0 #14 January 24, 2003 Used to be a huge fan. I think Delores Claiborne was the last book of his that I read. It was so pulpy and poorly written that I'd decided he'd become a total hack. Loved the Gunslinger series. But didn't even know the 4th book came out. He wrote the first one when he was still in college. Definitely taking his sweet old time with those books. sunshine 2 #15 January 24, 2003 I was disappointed with Delores Claiborne too. I think i read Gerald's Game after DC, and finally had enough. Two bad books in a row...just couldn't do it anymore. His earlier stuff was awesome. I loved Four Past Midnight and The Shining (the book NOT the movie). ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! Luna 0 #21 January 24, 2003 Well, things are about to pick up. According to www.stephenking.com (the Official web site), as of Oct. 15 of 2002 these are the tentative publication dates for the rest of the series: Volume 5, Wolves of the Calla in September of 2003 Volume 6, Song of Susannah in November of 2003 Volume 7, The Dark Tower in March of 2004 You can also go here to read the Prologue for Volume 5. Yes, I admit it, I'm a hopeless addict of all things Stephen King. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!
