Good news today in terms of averting a war with Iraq:

(from the LA times)

No Iraq Nuclear Evidence Found, Agency Says

From Associated Press
VIENNA, Austria -- The head of the U.N. nuclear agency will tell the Security Council next week that his inspectors need more time in Iraq, but that Saddam Hussein gets a "B" for his cooperation, an agency spokesman said today.

International Atomic Energy Agency director Mohamed ElBaradei, due to brief the council in New York on Monday along with chief U.N. inspector Hans Blix, will give Iraq "quite satisfactory" grades despite the need for improvement, spokesman Mark Gwozdecky said.

"Access and cooperation are good," he said. "We've been getting where and when we want to get, and we've been generally successful in getting what we need."

. . .

Test results will be included in the agency's report to the Security Council, IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said.

"The results so far ... have revealed no indication of prohibited nuclear activities at the locations where the samples were taken," she said. "This is not the end. The inspectors take these samples continuously."

Well, that's UN. Too bad the US anti-Iraq propaganda is working in high gear;

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has ordered that any scientist who cooperates with UN inspectors be killed with their families, US Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said.

"Today, we know from multiple sources that Saddam has ordered that any scientist who cooperates during interviews will be killed, as well as their families," Wolfowitiz said in a speech to the Council on Foreign Affairs.

He said scientists were being tutored on what to say and Iraqi intelligence officers were posing as scientists to be interviewed by the inspectors.

Wolfowitz made the speech as part of a campaign by the US administration to justify stronger international action against Iraq.

This aught to get Bush's panies in a bunch. If he doesn't get to declare war on someone he'll have a tantrum. Personally I don't think he really cares who he declares war on, he just figured Iraq would be an easy target.

That is good news.

It's gotten to the point where if we do strike Iraq, I'm going to leave my job at the newspaper just so I'll be allowed to put "Bush is a butthead" stickers on my car.

Attention Hearst Corp.: The above is just a little joke. Ha! Ha!

I was gonna refer to that myself. I have no idea what's going to happen, I just wish the US could go back to the good ol' days of "Hey, that has nothing to do with our country, so I don't think I'll go screw with that." I know, it's isolationist or whatever, but my dad always told me if it's not my business stay out of it or I'm just asking for trouble.

The bumper sticker should be read:

Irony!

"Bush is a butthead."

Negative. When's the last time you saw a period on a bumper sticker? "Call 1-800-EAT-SHIT." No. "Animals are my friends." No. "Visualize using your turn signals." No.

Justin, you are a butthead

You know it looks like Bush is trying to make this come down like the Cuban Missile Crisis. We'll go to the brink. We'll take a lot of photos. We've already had a reconaisance craft shot down (unmanned unlike the U-2 that was shot down over Cuba). And then the rest of the Arab world will get Sadam to leave the country in exhile some how. And Bush will look like the hero because we went to the brink and he was able to pull it back.

What they need to do is produce the specific evidence that Iraq has WMD in the UN. Just llike they did in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bush keeps claiming it. I really have no doubt that they have them. They used them on their own people and the Iranians so lets not kid ourselves. But let's see the evidence. Why they aren't producing their "intelligence" is really beyond me. They've got to know that their credibility will only go down without it. What are they protecting about that information? How it was obtained? Do we still have operatives there feeding info and if it's revealed then the Iraqi's will know how we got it? Makes you wonder.

Isn't that what Clinton said about
AFGHANISTAN and the AL-QAEDA training camps?

Apparently Al Qaida thought the same about 1 & 2 World Trade Center.

I'll ask again...and that has _what_ to do with Iraq?

Your right... We should be going after the Saudis...

What does that have to do with the price of cumquats in Budapest?

It doesn't. Just your reference to easy targets. Nobody wants war. You, nor I will prevent what will inevitably happen. Our government will do what it has to do.
