she literally didnt talk to me for the first week or so after my first jump..by sept she was emailing me with the subject line "did you jump today??" she was so proud when I did my AFF though. she just has to get used to it. My brother races cars, I skydive and my sister..well, shes just unstable. so she blames us for her grey hair..but still tells me I am the good one.

HEHEHE that's so funny. My mom always tells me I'm the good one too. She was not too thrilled when I went for my first tandem. I couldn't even tell her when I was going because she was too freaked out. But, after she saw how happy it made me, she can't wait until I make it through AFF. She' extremely supportive.

Oh, well said! In my case, I'm the mother and my son thinks I'm crazy:S. Oh, the freedom, solitude, and the rush! (and I have yet to do a solo, I can only imagine and dream of the thrill).
Besides, don't tell me I can't do something, because I will prove you wrong:)

HEHEHEHE...my mom only worries about me. My brother and sister are way too laid back. They think that I'm absolutely insane for skydiving. My brother couldn't even watch my entire video from my first tandem because he was too freaked out that I went. I think I get my adventurous side fron my dad - going to do a tandem was all his idea.

Hell I wish I could even get my parents to watch videos of my jumps and such...there more worried about me thru the insurance side of it over anything else. Glad they dont know that Ive been canceled or Id be in a whole heap of trouble :|

My dad's 85th birthday is next Friday; he wants to make his first jump that weekend. I can't wait.

My mom came to watch me make my first jump; she said if I was going to die she wanted to be there (huh?:P). But I didn't die. But now I understand how she feels.

Even though I jumped when I was pregnant, if my son makes a jump, it'll scare the bejesus out of me. It doesn't matter that I know it's pretty safe (and a lot safer than driving too fast). He's my baby. so there!

My parents are divorced...so, initially my mom was so against me going. But, my dad I went and had a blast. What a great memory and day to be able to share with him. But, when I went back for my second tandem my mom actually went with me. When we were getting close to the ground I yelled "hi mom" to her. She must have been able to hear the excitement in my voice, because after that day she has been totally supportive of me wanting to skydive. She even offered to help pay for a rig when the time comes. My mom rocks!

Sure...she really is fantastic. She's been real supportive of me my whole life which has been great. I was a bit worried that she was not going to support me in this but she finally came around. He thinking was that she bought my brother his first drum set so she feels that she needs to help me buy my first rig. She's a little nutty sometimes but I will not argue with her on this.

I usually have a hard time accepting presents or money from my mom. I like to get my on my own (aside from living with her an paying no rent) But, I'm thinking this is one offer I will not be able to refuse.

Ok this is the deal you get the rig (Mirage G3)and i'll keep it till you need it OK do we have a deal?

Oh. How could I refuse a deal like that? Anyway, I'm thinking it will probably be June or so before I even start thinking about a rig. I can't even start jumping until the end of March or beginning of Aprinl, depending on the weather.

Yeah, what the HELL? ARE WE FUCKING NUTS??
We're riding up in planes just to JUMP OUT OF THEM 3 MILES UP!! It's fucking INSANE!!

So let's come to our senses people. Stop jumping out of airplanes before you hurt yourselves. What are you, retarded???

Yeah, I came to my senses several years ago and now jump off stuff stuck to the ground :P

that's interesing... my dad has 8 or 9 jumps (back in the days of round canopies), and was, and still is, totally supportive about me skydiving (he's so to say my loan master ;)). but then again, he's my father, so he surely does not have the motherly instincts :P;):D

Oh -- I'd be supportive of his jumping. I'd just also be scared. No reason both can't be true.

I was about 4 1/2 or 5 months pregnant when I quit jumping; we counted in my logbook recently -- about 50 jumps.

I was going to give him a tandem for his 18th birthday, but he decided against it. Wanted to wait until he could afford to keep jumping.
