gemini 0 #1 January 26, 2003 It's not to early to start planning for WFFC. There is a chuch convention in town at the same time as the WFFC and some of the motels are already full. Also check the RW attachment from last year. Can anyone identify the flyers? I know I was docked (red), Flash was in, Lisa was in, Dennis was in, but who are the rest? RevJim 0 #2 January 26, 2003 Organized RW-Sure! Organized FF-not I. Organized hybrid-sure. Over 200 jumps (I'm commenting as if it were August NOW) Staying on site (tent) Video-yep. Got the camera, mounting the EOS for stills, but I'm not a good choice....no firewire! Tent-YEP! (I'll be able to pitch in something towards the tent this year) Party-WHY? WFFC is a party. No need to try and make something bigger. C130-YEA BABY!!!!! DZ.com load! Edit to add: Rantoul IS NOT confirmed yet! It may end up in Fayettevile Arkansas. Last I heard it was a toss up between those two cities. I prefer Rantoul, but don't plan too much until we know for sure....It's your life, live it! skydiver51 0 #7 January 26, 2003 I do mainly Tandem and AFF videos but would be happy to do backup video. Can't do stills unless you grab them from video and I have firewire. I may only be there the last four days also.

Where did you hear this?Skydiving is for cool people only
gemini 0 #9 January 26, 2003 On the WFFC BB the question was asked if the city had signed the contract yet. There was no definitive answer except for hoping the convention did not move to Arkansas. Just thought of something. Will the Arkansas police be as great as those in Rantoul? Blue skies, Jim
WFFC 1 #10 January 26, 2003 QuoteOn the WFFC BB the question was asked if the city had signed the contract yet. There was no definitive answer except for hoping the convention did not move to Arkansas. There isn't a signed contract yet. The contract for last year was just for one year, a trial if you will. There are a few small things that B & B2 (Bernice & Beth) are working on to get resolved. I'm still working on the new website too. Got all my artwork late and life is happening too quickly right now (see marital status thread for answers). Trust me, when I know, you'll know. In the meantime, deals are being made with various travel resources (Amtrak, others, etc.) for skydiver discounts. RevJim 0 #11 January 26, 2003 Rantoul News-Full Story QuoteWilliams and Adams said four major sticking points remain before a new contract would go before the village board for approval: – Whether the village will contribute $10,000 to help market the convention. – How much money the village will charge airplane users for fuel during the event. – How the convention will make use of the Prairie Pines Campground. – The loss of crops on airport farmland due to landings by sky divers. Quote Blytheville Mayor Barrett Harrison said his community has stepped up efforts to lure the event to his community. “The World Free Fall Convention would be wonderful,” Harrison said. “It would help the economy for the brief time they are here; it would be something new and interesting for the people of the community and all of Mississippi County to see and participate in. We'd be excited to have the sky divers here, and we look forward to it.” There are no updated news stories from them. No updated board meeting minutes, and no confirmations from WFFC staff (yes, I saw your reply, Arano). I shall be there, wherever "there" is. I'm just really, really hoping it's in Rantoul again. When was the last time someone said that about Quincy? It's your life, live it! Snowwhite 0 #12 January 26, 2003 Consider this the official word, ok? Plan on Rantoul. The hold up on the contract is technical little stuff. You know, things like, where are the volunteers gonna shower. We don't want stinky volunteers..... I am hoping that Don and Bernice will approve the stuff I worked out with the city manager. If they do, we're done. BethskydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

WFFC 1 #16 January 26, 2003 Quotekinda like golf carts in bonfires, huh? If you do the same stupid stuff over and over again, well, see: http://www.darwinawards.com/ then we make fun of them. As the incident report would read, the deceased was last seen consuming an extreme amount of alcohol prior to driving a golf cart through a bonfire repeatedly before the cart ran out of gas. the deceased attempted to restart the cart many times all while beating off rescue attempts.----- ~~~Michael
