jillr 0 #13 January 30, 2003 We don't have many beaches here in the midwest so all you need is a C to jump at the beach? I've long since had everything done for my D, I've just been procrastinating on taking the test. If all you need is a C, then I'll procrastinate a bit longer... riddler 0 #14 January 30, 2003 What was your A number? Is that one included? I sent off for my C license five weeks ago, and I've heard nothing. I want my card! Wahhhh.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
RevJim 0 #15 January 30, 2003 What I was told last year, is the landing area is smaller at the beach, and it's on the water (duh). Water training is required to get the "B", and the size of the landing area is iffy, so they made it a "C" requirement there to make sure all qualified. "C"s for beach jumps are not standard. It varies dz to dz. Last I heard, Emerald Coast required a "B" and water landing gear. Just call before you go to make sure you meet the qualifications. This is the reason I didn't go last year. If I'm going to travel all the way to a coastal DZ, I'm doing a beach jump, preferably a sunset one! Since I didn't meet the quals last year, I didn't go. This year it all depends on the $$$. Edit to add: I meant organized beach jumps. If you just want to jump into a beach in you town, that's a different matter. It would probably be considered a demo jump and would most likely require a PRO rating, and at the very least a "D", thanks to the new USPA regulations. As for the actual size of the beach down by Gold Coast, they should measure it, since come September the requirements change...hope it's bigger than 12 acres or so....It's your life, live it! RevJim 0 #17 January 30, 2003 Quotethe beach is not that wide mabye 150ft max illltry and get an aerial of it Length? Aerial would be great! Remember after September things get a bit dicey of regulations. If all you have is a "C", go NOW and do the beach jumps, cause it's gonna be a "D" soon. It's your life, live it!
