Rdutch 0 #1 January 30, 2003 Going crazy going over and over hundreds of questions like this....... The DNS service includes a dynamic update capability called DDNS (Dynamic DNS). With DNS, when there are changes to the domain for which a name server has authority, you must manually update the zone database file on the primary name server. With DDNS, name servers and clients within a network automatically update the zone database files. However, in this scenario, the client (or its DHCP server) does not support the use of the DNS dynamic update protocol. Which of the following troubleshooting solutions would you use to correct the problem? 1. Using the DNS console, perform the following task: on the SOA tab, increase the value of the serial number for the zone at the master server (source) to a number greater than the value at the applicable secondary server (destination). 2.Look in the DNS server event log for error messages. 3.Review how zone delegations are used, and revise your zone configuration as needed. 4.Install or upgrade client computers to Microsoft Windows 2000 or install and use a Windows 2000 DHCP server on your network to lease client computers. Good thing I have lots more to learn just the same. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

lazide 0 #7 January 30, 2003 well, increase the SOA of course. If the DNS server software has any clue, it will send update notifications to all secondaries, and they should fetch the new zones. Of course, if you are making changes often, you really should rethink your delegation setup. ;)--- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations

CrazyIvan 0 #9 January 30, 2003 Getting MS products certifications, in my opinion, are a waste of time and money, because MS releases 'NEW' versions every other month so, if you get certified on MS SOME SERVER v1.0 in January, that will be useless on February because MS SOME SERVER 2.0 came out. I just get the new version, play with it FOR FREE and case closed. __________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you. jfields 0 #10 January 30, 2003 I wouldn't call the certs a waste of money. Frustrating, yes, but not a total waste. They don't release new versions every month. The certs can also have a large benefit when looking for a job, or a positive impact on your salary. It is especially cost-effective if your current employer is paying for it all.
