Slope soaring

Recommended Posts

Yep, I've done it with a PD190. Then I bought a Super Space paraglider and flew it in local canyons for a while. It's a lot like BASE jumping in that you have to work for your altitude; I did a lot of hiking when I was flying that thing.

Hi Bill

Yes, I'm interested in remote alpine launch points rather than the 'parkyercar-getoutngo' scenario.

How heavy was your system?

Did you fly in any turbulent conditions?

Did you ever have the airfoil fold on itself?

I know these questions are better directed towards a paragliding forum but I thought I'd start here.
(besides this way I won't miss any tittie-bar posts!;))

Thanks

i'm really interested in this subject as well. I would say 50% of me wanting a BASE rig soon isnt so much a rush to BASE but for ground launches with a snowwboard. (and eventually a few 'left' turns that arent recommended with just a snowboard :)

Zenister, you ought to talk to Huckin' Idiot. He's a pro skier (the kind that does all the twisty flips--I hear he's fairly well known for it), and he's been doing some cool ski launches off cliffs that are otherwise super-gnarly (severely underhung for a foot launch). If there's an expert on that kind of thing, it's either him or the jumper from the Eastern Sierras, who has ridden his snowboard off several big walls in foreign countries.
