skygal3 0 #1 January 30, 2003 I suck at taking caring of myself because, well, I never get sick. My temp has been about or a little over 100 all day. My normal PCP is too far away and closing soon anyway..but when should I head to the ER?? See, I thought sleeping would take care of it. Now I am going to try the mid-afternoon coffee and fresh air thing. If all else fails..what's a girl to do? This suck. I am asking to be virtually taken care of. skymama 37 #3 January 30, 2003 I don't worry too much until it gets over 103. Are you taking Tylenol or anything to bring it down so you'll be more comfortable? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
nws01 0 #4 January 30, 2003 Just sleep it off. Go to the store and buy so Jack Daniels and Nyquil. Do a couple of shots of each and sleep it off.
skybytch 273 #5 January 30, 2003 Funny, I was talking about this very subject with a friend earlier this week. She told me that she'd been talking to an ER nurse who told her that these days they won't do anything for temperatures under 105. Take a couple Tylenol, drink lots of fluids (plain ol' water is best, coffee is bad), and if you're too uncomfortable take a cool bath or shower. Put on your most comfy pj's or sweats, throw a favorite movie in the VCR/DVD, grab a cozy blanket and curl up on the couch. Hope you feel better soon! happythoughts 0 #6 January 30, 2003 Actually, a doctor told me that a warm bath is best because it still cools your temperature, but does not chill you. I tried it and it works. I'm not a doctor, but I have a white coat and am willing to help.
wmw999 2,584 #7 January 30, 2003 Yeah, what they said. 100 is enough to stay home from work and still be able to enjoy the video and hot chocolate or hot toddy. Muenkel 0 #8 January 30, 2003 Is it just a fever, or do you have other symptoms such as difficulty breathing? The only reason I ask, is that pneumonia has been spreading in the Northeast. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
jtval 0 #9 January 30, 2003 hello, I usually go to the dr when it gets below 50* thats when I would normally get sick. not at 100..is it summer there. BWAAHHA 100 isnt so bad but if it persists you may need to get some of that PCP. just hope yours is better then mine about a month ago I couldnt sleep because my thorat waas closing up..lliterally. I had to look at the ceiling to breath. they said "we can find anything, try to get some sleep and see if you feel better in the morning" God I fukn hate those ppl. I usually have to be just about dead before I go to themMy photos My Videos
skygal3 0 #10 January 30, 2003 Thanks for all of the help. See, Bytch thats why i asked because my co-pay on ER visits is $100 and not worth it if they are going to send me home with Tylenol. Muenkel-my chest is killing me. I thought I had been exposed to chemicals at work on Monday because I was very ill feeling, then my nose started to bleed, which never happens. Tuesday it felt like heartburn in my chest and between yesterday and today has progressively gotten worse-tightness and pain in my chest, a horrid cough that makes me make the face because it rattles through my body and kills my head, and a sick feverish in the head feeling. Oh come on , you know the feeling. So yes my chest is very sore and congested. No runny nose though. Sorry to be so needy right now. I have no one to care for me. *current temp-101 on the digital. If your doc is not on call, then another doc will call you. Tell the doc exactly what you just described. Those symptoms sound to me like they need medical attention. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. Chris _________________________________________ Chris

It may or may not be anything serious, but you do need to talk to a doctor about it. Today. Like right now.
jtval 0 #14 January 30, 2003 wow kate, you didnt tell us any of your symptoms... that does not sound cool! at least ASK a doctor wtf is going on! what kinda chemical do you work with? tell the dr what you do and what you think... 90% of the time the patient self daignoses themselves and the dr just agrees but he may have good info for you.My photos My Videos
TEB6363 0 #15 January 30, 2003 Call your DR. or go to an Everyday Health Care NOW..... A temp is one thing. What you describe is not a "little" cough... Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!!

mouth 0 #17 January 30, 2003 Since she really doesn't need another mother I'll just chime in and say....What they said....go to the DR or at least call NOW. Something is going around because out of 25 kids in a class I have an average of 10 out of each class for the week. My oldest stayed home today with a fever, headache, cough, hard to breath stuff today. The DR says it is airborn so it is easily spread. Hope you will soon be feeling better. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.

skybeergodd 0 #25 January 31, 2003 Hey Skygal...I'd definitly go see your doctor ASAP or go to the ER if he can't see you. If your temp is continuing to rise after tylenol and with the chest symptoms youe describing, there is a possiblity that you can have a form of baterial pnuemonia . I've worked as a paramedic for 12 years and worked in ERs for several of those years. Even if it isn't pnuemonia they can give meds that will make you much more comfortable.
