Do you have siblings? Who is the favorite?

Recommended Posts

I have a brother who is 2 years older than me. We fought like cats and dogs all our lives so adulthood is no different. He resents the fact that I went to college even though he had the same opportunity I did. When I was living out of state I thought he was the favorite because he got to see my dad more than me, but now that I'm back home and divorced so I can visit without having to deal with my ex's crap I am clearly the favorite. My brother is never even invited to Christmas. (Guess that is what happens when you are an a$$ to my dad, my stepmom and me all in one day.)

I have one older brother (26) and a younger sister (21). I'm 24 - my parents seem to do more to help me out though. I think it's because I always pay them back. The definitly don't have favorites though. I also have half-dozen step-brothers and sisters ages 11-19. I get along great with my brother and sister - we hang out a lot and I know I can count on them for anything and vice versa.

Umm... she's married... has no interest in skydiving... and is almost NOTHING like me. We both think the other one is crazy.

You mean the one you called last night and left a "message" for? :P

My roommate kept asking about you today... she's like, "How come all your friends are crazies?" :D:D

2 Brothers both younger 1 by 11 months to the day the other by 5 1/2 years. The only time in my life I thought that my parents had a favorite was in high school because I was the "antisocial"one and he was going to an Ivy League school, captain of the football team, etc.... but that was percieved. After that I came to see that they loved us equally but for different things.

I must say it's real cool to have parents that you can idolize even after you find out a lot of their imperfections

3 sisters, no brothers. Two sisters older, one younger. They would tell you I was the favorite just because I was a boy.

I'm the only one talking to my parents at this stage, but they'd quit calling me in a hot minute if they could talk to the girls. My devotion is easy, and people want what they can't have.

That's one of the things I love about getting older, is having all those heartbreaker lessons learned.

Oh, sorry, I'm still in hardassed dickhead mode. And I'm still at work.

Outta here....

Older brother, and he and I were both adopted.

Mom and Dad divorced many years ago. Both parents come to me with major life decisions; someday I'll regale you with the story of the Shopping Spree with my father - finding him his burial plot and casket, then rehashing the day over dinner at the deli (uh, kids? Seinfeld was real! LOL) and Mom, this Christmas, had me write out her living will and had long drawn out discussions about assisted living, asset retention, etc.

Favorites? I don't think there was one. David was "easier", and still is, I suppose, but he and I have always been so different that it would be impossible to compare.

My sister makes it a point to tell me at every family gathering that she is the favorite. My father favors my brother, but told me once that I am the one with sense so he favors me..what a terrible thing to say! My mother tells me she loves us all the same, but that I am the good one. :)

I'm confused as to who my parents favor. My brother always got everything he wanted when we were growing up, and when I questioned my parents on this one, they said my brother was a very sesitive child so they gave him more. Well, now, since they gave him everything he wanted, he still lives off of them (brother 29, me 26). They still give him everything he wants, but I think they just worry about him while they think that I'm more likely to succeed if pushed a little harder. Damn double standards &*^ *(&^%(

So what was my point... oh yeah, I don't think they favor either one. I'm the girl, he's the boy - they treat us differently but care equally.
