hookitt 1 #1 February 5, 2003 Back in the day I used to support my habit, ( and my life) by packing parachutes. It's a tough job and I give kudo's to those who do it, do it well, and for long hours. Especially if it's on Student and Tandem rigs. I'm not in the military but I have recently started some rigging for the Para-rescue team in our area. You have to pack by the book.. even if the book is from 1987. ANNNnnnyy ways, I inspected and packed only 6 large rigs, liken to a tandem with an f-111 main. by the book, mind you. Today, I was about as close to being late for work as you can be. I slept through the alarm and woke up dazed.... F***... quick shower gas station coffee and made it nearly on time (ok... so I was a little late). I have semi flex hours so it doesn't matter too much but DAMN! I felt like a WUSS!!! this morning. ...End of rant.... C-yaMy grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
AggieDave 6 #2 February 5, 2003 You could really f**k with them and pro-pack one...no guaruntee on the malfunction rate, though... --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

AggieDave 6 #4 February 5, 2003 (I propack tandems, but I have a very specific method that's not normally used in sport packs to get and keep the lines in the center of the packjob)--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." hookitt 1 #6 February 6, 2003 Quote You could really f**k with them and pro-pack one...no guaruntee on the malfunction rate, though... OH believe me, I'd like to pack it different! Check this out. The parachute must be placed on the left side before stacking . If you Lay down on the right side and it's not legal You don't even want to know what the book says about line stows. Please note: It's done this way because of formalities not because the riggers on the team want it done that way. The Para-rescue team does have some non-standard rigs also. Vector? Ever heard of some Non standard rig called VECTOR? Made by Relative Workshop or something like that? Those can be packed however you want. There will be a Pro-packing lesson involved. The Loft Manager is a talented rigger but is not very familiar with a Pro-pack. You should see all the toys they have!My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... hookitt 1 #8 February 6, 2003 It's the National Guard.. And by toys... well sure there are C130s and helicopters and of course weaponry... I was thinking more on the rigging lines. They have a Fantastic loft. The packing floor is a 3 inch foam Wrestling Mat that would make any packer jealous. I'd venture to guess, that's not top secret My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
AggieDave 6 #9 February 6, 2003 The main packing area at SD Aggieland is carpeted, but under it is 2 1/2 inches of high density foam. The same crap that is used to make those foam beds that you see advertised on TV. Yes, it will make a packer jealous, but I'm not, I've got it... --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
