freeflyz 0 #1 February 6, 2003 I don't care about the war that is about to happen! There is nothing We can do but hope that it does not happen and if it does hope our Troops come back! We as people of the USA can't do shit about it,picket anyone you want it's still going to happen if you like it or not!I'm just tired of hearing about it! Worry about stuff you can change your bills, water consuption, recycle! Just a thought to make it easy on people that worry to much!

billvon 3,120 #3 February 6, 2003 >We as people of the USA can't do shit about it . . . Actually, we're one of the few countries of the world where people CAN do something about it. We've stopped wars before; look at what public opinion did to get us out of Vietnam. And, of course, we have the power of the vote. Don't like what a leader is doing? Get another one. But you can't do that effectively without knowing what's going on, and knowing enough to form an opinion. Thus people talk about it, which I think is a good thing. >Worry about stuff you can change your bills, water consuption, recycle! And those things (especially reducing oil consumption) just might have that effect we're hoping for. We're not powerless.
freeflyz 0 #4 February 6, 2003 If i remember Vietnam was not stopped we still lost thousands of troops,And yes we can vote but only 4rs later after the damage is all ready done! People of today worry to much for nothing. The point i'm trying to proof is the goverment is going to do whatever they want! Like allways!
nacmacfeegle 0 #5 February 6, 2003 "But you can't do that effectively without knowing what's going on, and knowing enough to form an opinion. Who better to discuss them with? A global group of people, from all walks of life, and circumstances, brought together with at least one thing in common. Don't be duped into thinking this threat of war only effects the USA, the action we are currently considering has global consequences. And yes, every single person in the 'free world' has the power, the right, and sometimes even the responsibility, to do something. Whether it is to voice support, or appeal against a decision they disaree with, the right to this freedom was hard won by our forefathers. Otherwise, can you you really call yourself free? quade 4 #6 February 6, 2003 No. That's just not correct. If the White House today received 100 million emails from people stating that they were not in favor of a war, then you'd see a dramatic change. As much as the White House likes to say that it doesn't poll or listen to polls -- they do. It is apathy that allows the few to control the masses.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

ColdDuck 0 #13 February 6, 2003 First of all I think you are completely wrong when you say that the American people can't do anything about this pending war. Sure it is easier to say you don't care about the war. But if you feel that those who are in power are just a bunch of war mongers, don't you think that they would rather that you don't care? Those in powerful positions only have power because we give it to them, and we can take it away. "Insurance should called In case shit happens, if shit don't happen shouldn't I get my money back?" nacmacfeegle 0 #16 February 7, 2003 Okay, I'm going to try a different tact.... Do you care about your jumping? Will you be put out if the FAA were to ground the jumpships at your DZ due to possible terrorist action? Do you want to live in a permanent state of terror, and have you any idea what that actually entails? Do you want air travel to consist of long waits at security checkins? How about a curfew in your own home town? Maybe you'd like to see the price of gasoline double, or treble? Are you bothered that some of the people who you talk to, laugh with, or even jump with, from this board, or your home DZ are being sent overseas to fight, kill, maim, or suffer horrible injuries themselves for a cause that you don't care about? Do you want your basic human rights as a citizen of a free democratic country removed permanently? Do you want to do anything about it?-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
