dropdeded 0 #1 February 7, 2003 Just reading about some of the founding members of the Doors playin together. The article is full of all the politics that go along with such happenings.Im just wondering if anyone has heard them and if so,how'd they sound? Its Ray Manzarek,Robbie Krieger with Ian Astbury from the Cult singing. Was supposed to have Police drummer Stewart Copeland .I guess they play in L.A. tonight, wish I would have known sooner I would have made the trip. If anyone goes,Im interested in opinions. Not a fanatic, just a fan dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
Zenister 0 #2 February 7, 2003 Ian Astbury has lost his voice (and the fire as well) since the cult's high point, but otherwise i'd love to see it. Unfortunately i'm in Seattle....Ian was technically( range, control etc) a much better singer than Morrison was but since his decline i he's probablly in the same range...(and he probably wont fall off the stage drunk several times during the show either) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. blewaway5 0 #3 February 7, 2003 Live, from Los Angeles, California, the Doooors! er, uh, wait, the kinda sorta Doors. I saw them play once, and to tell the truth, not so great. I didn't realize it was Ian Astbury singing, I just realized it was some guy dressed like Jim Morrison with hair like Jim Morrison who tried real hard to sound like Jim Morrison but really and truly didn't sound so much like Jim Morrison. Are you getting the repetitious use of Jim Morrison's name? Good, cause without him the Doors don't have that amazing chemistry and they just turned into some pretty good musicians covering the Doors music. Or at least that's what I though.
