Those damn defective cypresses on ebay once again..

Recommended Posts

At first I was confused by the statement "manufactured 1/94, so it never needss another inspection (paraphrased)"

At first, I wondered "hmmm... those damn things will ALWAYS need inpections every so often." Then I read Cliff's email. SUUURE it never needs another inspection... no need to inspect something that has already been classified as un-airworthy.

Just hope the idiot that bought it is a rigger... good luck getting a rigger to install it without the required inspections.

>Bill, what were your plans for the cypress if you won it?

Disassemble it, figure out how it works, do some chamber tests, put it back together. Probably end up giving it to Derek to test under his tiny canopy, see if he could get it to fire.

Riggers, as I'm being trained, check serial numbers against lists for stolen gear. The CYPRES list includes those considerd un-airworthy. If a rigger were to install this, against the wishes of the manufacturor, he/she would be game to have their ticket pulled. This is why a few I've talked to said they would never be installed in a rig, and if they were, they would be the first to report the rigger to the FAA. I'm sure rules concering safety are close in other countries also.

That may be, but I'd still be willing to bet you could take it to 10 riggers and 9 would repack it.

Quite possible Bill, but I'm proud to say I shall not be one of them.
