This was emailed to me and I cannot vouch for its authenticity. The text within the file outlines what is happening in the image series of 14 pictures. It describes an air-strike called in by ground units against a Taliban/Al Qaeda armored personnel (or ex-Soviet BMP is the correct term) carrier in Afghanistan, carried out by US Navy jets. I will add no further commentary. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! fool 0 #10 February 8, 2003 I just don't think a missile or bomd with a direct hit like that would leave its passengers in one piece flying through the air as depicted. Friends of mine were the ones in Aphganistan when the bomb dropped, and there was very little left of their helmets, never mind complete bodies flying through the air. Viking 0 #11 February 8, 2003 did you notice it was actually hit with a Anti Tank Mine not a missle or bomb? the explosion coming up fromt he bottom would fry the vehicle and probly through the people on top up into the air.I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
fool 0 #12 February 8, 2003 Valid point. If the blast had enough power to rip through the armour and throw them from the vehicle, I would think shrapnel would've shredded them though. I did not look closely at where the blast came from though, and could be very wrong. wingedmonkey1 0 #18 February 8, 2003 Sorry guys, I have to make a correction here. I saw this when it came out a while ago and it's NOT a BMP. A BMP is a tracked vehicle. This is a BTR. I don't remember whether it's a 50,60,or 70 but it is an older model. Keep supporting the troops though. I'm sure we'll see more pics very soon. LouDiamond 1 #19 February 8, 2003 Quote I just don't think a missile or bomd with a direct hit like that would leave its passengers in one piece flying through the air as depicted. Friends of mine were the ones in Aphganistan when the bomb dropped, and there was very little left of their helmets, never mind complete bodies flying through the air. I have seen the actual footage of that incident in VHS(whole tape) and in the windows media player version(scaled down version). It was a series of explosives and Anti tank mines that were command detonated by the MUJ. There were quite a few people on top of the vehicle when the explosives were detonated. What you are seeing are stills taken from the incident. When viewed in real time the bodies aren't quite as noticeable because it happens rather quickly. The Russians knew they were in a bad area since the road goes right through a gaunlet of hills and valleys and the MUJ had used that to their benifit. What you didn't see was the other vehicles that preceded the one being blown up. The Russians would run one vehicle at a time as fast as they could go through the danger area and basicaly roll the dice. What you saw was a snake eyes. That is what happens when explosives detonate. Not only did I sleep at a Holiday Inn, I actually do work with explosives."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

kmcguffee 0 #23 February 9, 2003 QuoteI don't remember whether it's a 50,60,or 70 but it is an older model. It is a BTR-70. The BTR-50 is an open topped tracked version. The BTR-60 has an extreme slope on the back side, the BTR-70's slope is not as extreme (like the picture), and the BTR-80 has almost no slope.
